Is this realistic?

Just a quick pop in. I got in my "easy" run this morning. 4.44 miles of pain and discomfort. I had a pain shooting from my hip down my leg. I ended up walking most of it. Tomorrow is a P90X workout.

I made some ADR's in the last couple of days as well:

Narcoosee's the night of the marathon as a treat for myself
1900 Park Fare the night before to fuel up
Boma for breakfast the day before the marathon
Via Napoli the night I get there

I have only eaten at 1900 Park Fare before. Anyone have feedback on the other 3 and if they are worth it or good choices? I may not keep them all, not sure. Just wanted to lock them in to have something.

I haven't been to any of them but I'm booking 1900 Park Fare one night for dinner. Apparently the step sisters are hilarious.

I hope you and your husband can push/support/encourage each other to turn things around. Just take it day by day. Most importantly, STOP BUYING JUNK FOOD. If it isn't in the house you can't eat it!

I made my reservation for the hotel today. I will be at AS Sports. I wanted a nicer resort but I won't be in the room much so it doesn't make sense to spend the extra money. As long as I have a bed and a bathroom I will be good.

I had a failure today. I had 11 miles on the plan and only could do 4.6. I know exactly what the problem is but I can't snap out of it. Have just been bummed lately because of life in general. I don't feel as motivated to even get up and do the workouts so when something hurts I don't push through it. But, I have been getting up and doing something, even if it isn't as much as I should. I had the same exact problem at this time last year. The difference is I didn't do anything last year for about a month.

I don't really have junk food in the house. Mostly because I don't have self control. My biggest problem is mindless eating. But overall we are doing well. He has tracked, at first under protest but now is starting to do it independently. I weighed myself today and am down 1.8 lb since Sunday. So it's all good.

Congrats on getting some of your reservations in line. :) I think dining reservations are one of the most exciting. lol

Wow, what a beautiful place! You ought to do some trail running there!

When I'm engaged, I'm a complete workaholic, which is actually why I initially told my boss I didn't want the job. It wasn't that I didn't want to do the job, it was that I knew I'd love it and that it would consume my life. Which....yeah. I haven't been home before 7 this week and I get in around 6. I'm completely intellectually engaged, which hasn't happened since I left my ship in May 2012. I'm also completely exhausted and I only get to see my dogs for a few hours at a time when I'm awake. So...if I didn't have dogs, friends, and a life, I'd be in hog heaven. But I do, so while I'm happy, there's part of me that mourns all the other things I won't be doing for the next year. But as I tell other people, you can do anything for a year.

As far as training, the job has been pretty good for my running. The dogs have to get some solid exercise since they're alone 13 hours a day, so I've been running with them M-W-F mornings at 4:30 and walking them 2-3 miles on the other days. Long runs on Saturday, though the mileage is building slower than last year. The hound isn't an enthusiastic runner, so this morning I ran both dogs for about 2 miles, then dropped him back home and ran another 3.5 with the fast dog. We did hill repeats up Capitol Hill - 3x up, then around the Capitol and back home. My knees ache something fierce, so I may swim tomorrow. (If work allows.)

It is definitely a beautiful place. The parts I saw are not suitable for running, mostly because there are so many people. But there were a couple of other trails that I didn't see so maybe those are better.

Will you only be doing this job for a year? I agree though. It is great to be totally engaged but then everything else suffers. I'm still completely jealous of being able to run in such a scenic area.

I've heard of amazing things for Narcoossee's and Boma but we didn't make it there yet. You will have a blast no matter what. :)

I liked Via Napoli, but haven't eaten at any of the others. I've eaten:
50s Prime Time Cafe - before the marathon b/c they had my choice of pre-race food (fish and mashed potatoes, no pasta)
Artist Point (nice, but not worth the $$)
Nine Dragons (good)
Marrakesh (hands down my favorite and I always eat here once)
The Crystal Palace (my only WDW character meal, fun)

I know I've eaten other places, but those are the ones that stuck out. Narcoosee's is on my to-eat list, as is Boma, so I think you've made some good choices. I picked my high end place for the night after the marathon, but that's because I have a pre-race meal that I like, so I surfed menus to find it.

If all goes as planned, I should be leaving within the next 12 months. Even if I don't, they try not to have people do more than a year or 18 months in these jobs because it burns people out too quickly.

I do love my running routes, but that hiking trail you have looks awesome.

I haven't been to any of them but I'm booking 1900 Park Fare one night for dinner. Apparently the step sisters are hilarious.

I have eaten at 1900 Park Fare several times. My first time was on my honeymoon. The food is good. I LOVE the GF so I always like eating there because of the feel of the place. I will say though, I ate there on a solo trip a couple trips ago and the ugly stepsisters made me feel very uncomfortable for eating alone. Not sure if it was part of their act or not but I haven't been back since. I have heard they are funny but I usually don't care about going solo and that one bothered me.

Keep up the progress. Build some good habits before the winter comes again.

I have never heard a bad thing about Boma and I have that for breakfast. I have heard good things about both. Narcoossee's is really expensive but I cheaped out on the hotel for this reason and I figure it is a good treat after a marathon. Especially being right on the water. The problem is, I have to dress up so I need to bring an outfit just to be able to get in there. My main concern is, I don't know if I will feel like even walking around after the race. Once I camp out on Main Street to people watch I might not want to leave and head to the GF.

Via Napoli was the one I was concerned most about. I have never heard bad about Boma so I am not worried about that one, and it's breakfast so it's harder to screw up. I figure Narcoossee's can't be bad. I just don't want a terrible meal at Via Napoli so I am glad you liked it.

I have heard Crystal Palace is hit or miss. I ate there on my honeymoon but that was forever ago so I can't count that. I wanted to try it again but I am not quite sure. I guess we'll see as time gets closer.

Happy Birthday to Disneyland!

I am tired so this will be short. I was up early to head to the track for my speed workout. I did the full 6 miles today and it was pain free. I was tired when I was done but happy that I wasn't hurting. Then a full day of work and now just updating my threads and off to bed so I can get up for my bike ride.

The gym my wife signed up for opens this week so we'll see how this screws up my schedule. Ugh!

I've eaten at Via Napoli twice and liked it both times. Not my favorite choice at Epcot, but worthwhile anyway. Crystal Palace's food was fine, but I'm not a huge fan of character breakfasts when I'm solo. More social people probably like it, but when I'm alone I'm usually pretty content with a book. I felt more comfortable at Crystal Palace with the characters better than the Plaza Inn at Disneyland with characters. Can't quite pinpoint the difference, but it's there.

I didn't do any parks after the marathon. I went to Hollywood Studios after the Half and rode a few rides, walked around and had dinner there. After the marathon, I went to my room and took and ice bath followed by a nap, then hung by the pool until it was time to go to Artist Point. I probably would have had more energy if it hadn't been Goofy, though.

Good job! I got to sleep in to 6 this morning, then did 7.4 with my team and my dog. We were only supposed to do 7 but I stopped to water the dog and fell behind and then missed the turnaround point so I went almost a half mile long. I ran about a 10 min/mile pace with a random 7 minute mile thrown in the middle for no good reason. We ran the C and O Canal towpath, sections of which were built in the late 1780s by George Washington.

I'm glad to hear that you had a pain free run. :) Hope your bike ride goes well. And I hope your wife's workouts don't mess with your plan too much.

I ate at Crystal Palace last fall and while it was fine, I was there more for the characters than the food. The food was ok but I still struggle paying that much.

Yay for sleeping in! I slept in until 7:30 this morning and that was the first time in a long time. I got my husband to agree to go for a walk with me this morning. We walked 2 miles and took our little puggle. I feel bad because I think she got over heated. :( It was only 75 out but very humid. Today they are saying we will be getting up to 90 with a heat index of 100. Blech. On a side note my husband weighed in today and is down 7.8 lbs. :) I told him that it wasn't fair. lol He is helping me remain accountable though.

No bike ride this morning. I was up in the middle of the night and had trouble falling back to sleep so I skipped my ride and took the extra sleep.

I asked the wife when she wanted to workout this week and she was already making excuses why she couldn't start this week. I think this will be short-lived.

Yes, it was hot and humid here today too. Hoping it goes away as I have 13 miles on the schedule for tomorrow. I am hoping for no pain so I can get the full 13 miles in. I haven't completed my long run in 3 weeks.

That's awesome news about your husband. Just remember you have already lost weight so he will lose quicker. On top of the fact that guys lose faster than girls. But, maybe him losing will light your fire to push harder. Nothing wrong with a little competition.

I probably won't do the character breakfasts again, because the food isn't particularly impressive and when I'm solo I'm more interested in food than characters. At Disneyland though...non-character lunch at the Plaza Inn is the best on a cool day because the fried chicken is amazing. It's supposed to be the same recipe they used when the park first opened and it was a Disney family favorite.

I took Niko out for the 7 miles yesterday and he drank a lot of water in the last couple of days so I suspect he was as overheated as I was. I flew with friends on the trapeze outside this morning and it was so hot and humid we were calling it "Bikram Trapeze". I was exhausted by the time we were done.

Well, I hope it works out in your favor...

Good luck with the run. I'm going to try and get in five tomorrow morning with the mutts. I have the SF Half marathon next Sunday, so I'll just run Monday and Wednesday and probably do some light cross training on Tuesday if I can break away from the desk.

It's back to our heat wave so I haven't felt like doing much. I did take the girls to a street fair today so I got some walking (and melting!) in. I'm only working 2 days this week so not sure how much "exercise" I'll get but since we'll be out and about I'll be active just not a planned workout.

I've been reading up on all the different restaurants in preparation for my 180 window in 7 days! I also just booked Discovery Cove again - I'm so excited about that!

I'm going to try and get an early morning at Crystal Palace - we did dinner there last time and while it wasn't great food my oldest daughter was in awe of Piglet. She has had a Piglet doll since she was born and it's still her favorite at 12! She brought it with her to the restaurant to meet Piglet and Piglet stole it. It was hilarious. My favorite character has always been Pooh (as evident from my avatar) so it's all about the characters for us. I'm hoping for a pre park opening so I can get a shot of the castle without people :)

Yeah, I may revisit some of my ADR's as well. I don't know if I want to pack a nice outfit just to eat at Narcoossee's and I am not thrilled at the idea of a character meal. But we'll see.

Yes, it was really hot and humid yesterday. Bikram Trapeze is funny though. I didn't know you did that stuff outside. I guess I always pictured it in a gym.

SF Half Marathon sounds nice. I heard an episode of The Marathon Show on those races. They sound like they should be added to the "Must Do List".

My long run was a fail, AGAIN. I only did 4.5 miles. I have decided to adjust my schedule again. I think I am in pain because I am doing it after being on my feet, on cement floors, for 5 days. I might move the long runs to Tuesdays so rest a bit first. But, I hurt my left foot today. It's probably just my PF acting up but it hurts to walk on. So I am hitting the bike tomorrow and maybe a few more days this week, it will depend how it feels.

The Winnie-the-Pooh characters were the only reason I enjoyed the meal. Mostly I made the reservation so I could get into the park early and ride 7 Dwarves Mine Train before the lines built up since I couldn't get a Fast Pass - had one for the day I arrived but a canceled flight meant that I missed it. Then the ride turned out to be a bit of a disappointment...

You can do circus inside or outside, which is nice. My facility has year-round indoor and May-Nov outdoor flying. In LA, there's a rig on the Santa Monica Pier, which is spectacular at sunset. In Singapore, I flew on Sentosa Island, right on the beach. In San Diego, I fly outside in the mountains.

SF is definitely a bucket-list marathon/half. I did the second half last year, doing the first half this weekend.

Yeah, I think SF will go on my To-Do list of races. Not sure the distance it will be but I want to do one of them.

I got on the bike today. My foot still hurts but not as much. I have an easy run scheduled tomorrow. If I get up and my foot doesn't feel any worse I will give it a go. If it feels worse it may be another bike day.

I am happy for him. It is also keeping him motivated. He told me yesterday that he had tracked all day and that is a big deal because in the past he would do it under protest. It is helping me stay the course though because if he is still tracking then I need to as well... lol When we went for the walk together this weekend he said that he likes to spend time with me like that so that was nice. <3

Well football season for DS has started. The good thing about that is that practice is at the high school this year so I plan to walk the track while he's practicing. There was a woman that said she would offer yoga during practices to benefit the football club but I haven't heard anything more about it. If she does I will try to get home in time to go. That would give me 3 workouts a week anyway.

And on a side note... the CEO has summoned me today. o.o

I thought the ride was a mix of dark ride and thrill ride that didn't do either particularly well. The thrill bits needed to be longer. I think maybe they were harkening to the DLR Pirates, which has a couple of big plunges before settling into dark ride territory. Maybe if the line hadn't been so long - I was also underwhelmed by Radiator Springs Racers in California Adventure when I had to wait an hour, but with a fast pass it's much better. But given an hour's wait, I'd pick Radiator Springs Racers over the mine train any day.

Circus everywhere, every day :-)

Yay for getting to a track regularly. Speedwork FTW!

Niko and I ran 6 miles this morning, around 10 min/mile. Left the hound at home. The heat finally broke and the weather was so nice that I went about a mile longer than I'd originally planned. Last run until Sunday's race.

I'm starting to get really jealous of all these ADRs. lol And I agree about the heat wave. Thankfully I think ours has broken.

I hope that the schedule change works for you. And I hope your foot feels better. :(

And on a side note... the CEO has summoned me today. o.o

I don't think I am influencing her at all. I think with her it is all superficial. Her clothes aren't fitting and her stomach is bigger than usual (she has always been thin so 4 kids and hitting age 40 is catching up) so she thinks going to the gym 2-3 days a week will fix things. When she sees no results she will most likely stop.

I think it is awesome your husband seems to be getting into his tracking. It's a positive sign. And now you have to keep up with him. As for wanting to be able to do a 1/2 at some point. It is possible. You were only 3.1 miles (or a 5K) away from it just last October. Who knows, maybe the CEO will give you an offer you can't refuse and you can convince your husband to go back to Disney and run a race together with the extra money.

FYI, I get jealous when other people are planning their trips too. My wife was teasing me these past couple days. She was on the fence on taking the kids to Disney next month. But, she has decided against it. She has a million reasons, but says she would prefer the fall/winter, when temps are more tolerable. So, I got excited thinking I might be going sooner than expected.

How'd you feel?

Niko and I ran 6 miles this morning, around 10 min/mile. Left the hound at home. The heat finally broke and the weather was so nice that I went about a mile longer than I'd originally planned. Last run until Sunday's race.

I have to say, I want to ride the Mine Train to see what it's all about, but I don't care to all at the same time. I guess if I am there and the line isn't long I might try it but if the line is huge I will keep on a walkin.

I ended up taking the day off. When I woke up and moved in bed my foot hurt so I didn't even get out of bed to try. But, it was feeling better as the day went on so I am giving my hills a go tomorrow. I am feeling a bit like a failure lately. I know you guys will get mad but I have to say it anyway. I have a spreadsheet to track my workouts. I was looking it over the other night. I am stuck at 20 miles/week mileage wise for running. If I add in the bike I am at mid 30's. But, according to my plan I should be closer to 30 running alone. The failed long runs are killing me. The only good thing is that my last day of my current schedule ends a few weeks before my marathon, so I started early. So I do have time. I just wanted to use those extra weeks to get in extra long runs. Now I feel like I am just doing minimum. For example, next week my long run is supposed to be 14 and I haven't gotten over 9 yet. I'm suddenly going to jump 5 miles, probably not. I know I will finish my marathons fine but this isn't making me feel good about BQ. OK, I vented.

I got out and did my hills. I was scheduled for 7 miles and did 6.6. That's just because these are all new routes for me and I just didn't plan a long enough route. But it went well. My foot didn't hurt bad during the run. But once I got to work and stood on it all day it was killing me. It hurts right now sitting here. Thankfully tomorrow is a bike day.

I took today off because my foot was hurting. The good news is, I bought inserts for my sneakers at work and my foot hurts much less. I think it is all from standing on those cement floors all day. So, I may give my speedwork a go tomorrow and see how it goes. It may be a mistake given I have to work all day but I can't mentally take another day off.

Hopefully everyone else is doing well.

Hope the meeting with the CEO went well...any thoughts?

Yay for getting to a track regularly. Speedwork FTW!

The CEO ended up telling me that the feds (from the inspection) told her that the position needs to be filled by a doctor. She sounded skeptical but I'm just going to let it go. As for the track... there are a lot of people around. lol

I hope you have a great race tomorrow!

I'm proud of him. :) And I know I can do a half if I actually set my mind to it. I would like to get some more of this weight off first though.

Maybe it is time to either start experimenting with shoes (work and exercise) or go see someone so you aren't in constant pain?

I'm glad you foot feels better. I hope your speedwork goes well today!

I got my husband out and we did 2 miles this morning. I'm hanging in tracking and so is he so that's something.

I think I have him convinced to take a cruise next year in the end of June. It ends on July 3rd (his birthday) so I was telling him we should find somewhere to go to watch an awesome fireworks show on the 4th. I was joking and said we should go to Disney and he said ok. I really doubt that will happen, but it would be a lot of fun.

Have a great weekend everyone!
