We were adopted by a stray kitten. We have all a couple of other cats. When my son Brady get around this new cat bless his heart he sneeze and coughs up a lung. Is it possible to be allergic to one cat and not another?
This is based on personal experience -- I am deathly allergic to cats - I can walk into an overachieving clean freaks home who cleaned right before I came and has the cats put away and can typically tell within 10 minutes.
That said I have some friends with older cats whose homes I can visit for several hours or even a whole evening with no problems.
On the other hand I notice baby kitties are the death of me - I am sneezing within seconds/throat tight etc.

, and usually it takes me a week or so to get "used" to them then I would be fine.I have always been very allergic to cats that were not mine.
When I was a kid I had a cat that slept on my pillow, but when we went to visit my Grandfather every year I would end up in the hospital with an allergy/asthma attack. (fortunatly its not as bad anymore)
We have 5 cats now, and usually it takes me a week or so to get "used" to them then I would be fine.

My son has severe allergies to cats among other things. His allergist told us years ago sometimes its just the pet that breaks the camels back. Meaning they can be tolerant to certain allergens and adding one more even if it is the same one causes a reaction.
My son is so allergic that he reacts when visiting a friends house that hasn't had his cat for a few years now. Every once in a while he comes in contact with a place that the cat must have been.
He also has allergies to certain dog breeds and not others so I would say that yes, absolutely your child could be having a problem with this cat and not the others.
I hope you figure it all out and he starts feeling better!![]()
It just worries me he's coughing so hard that he's cryingThanksIt just worries me he's coughing so hard that he's crying
I have a call into his ped. I hope she calls me back soon. If not I'm gonig to take him to urgent careThen it sounds like he may need to see his doctor to be evaluated. Does he take asthma or allergy medication? You know it could be a separate issue and have nothing to do with the cat at all.

Good thinking.Let us know how it turns out. Hope Brady feels better quickly. Keep a good eye on his breathing. Many young children cough instead of wheeze when having asthma symptoms. Hugs to you.
