We had reservations for Kidani 12/6/09-12/11/09, my loving FIL decided Kidani was too far so he cancelled our reservations and re-booked for SSR. Now, he's waitlisted for BLT. BLT came available for 12/8 and 12/9. So we would have to stay at SSR for 12/6-12/7, then transfer to BLT for 12/8 and 12/9, but then have to stay at OKW for 12/10. Are we crazy for even thinking about doing this? We really wanted to stay at BLT and I'm hoping by taking the 2 available days that the others, at least 12/10 will open up. WWYD?

I would do it so I could get into BLT and maybe your extra days will come through. If you're willing to do all the moving it could be fun to try different places. Plus you get clean linen and towels too!

The bad part (assuming you are in all three resorts) is that you would get little time to unpack. Also, dining in the room might be difficult considering moving the groceries.

But if you tend to live out of your suitcases on trips and don't intend to use a lot of perishable food in the room, it's not that hard. Bell Services will transfer your luggage (even coolers of food, which they will keep in a walk in cooler - shouldn't be too big of an issue in December).

My suggestion is on "moving days" you pack in the morning, have at least one member of the party wait for Bell Services, and then go to check in at the next resort. After that, meet up at the park closest the next resort (so go to MK the day you move to BLT, maybe DTD or E/DHS the day of OKW) and then go to the new resort that afternoon or evening.

Chances are your luggage will be waiting for you, ready to be loaded into your room. By checking in early, they will be all ready for this. When you check in in the morning, you often get there before the rush of folks arriving by the first flights of the day.

If you have a vehicle this is even easier, in fact it is probably the only way I'd switch resorts. You just pack up and drive to the next place. Our last trip consisted of two days at BWV, then two days at VWL, then three days at SSR. And this was with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. We did not unpack and tried to keep each person's belongings in their own suitcase.

We lovingly refered to it as our DVC tour. If you have a sense of adventure go for it. If you think it is too much of a hassle you might want to move less.

I don't think you are crazy. We are WL for BLT for 2 of our 7 nights in August. We are hoping it will come through and we will be doing two at BLT, two at BWV, and 3 at VWL.

We are okay with moving as we want to be able to try the different resorts (new to DVC). Plus, we are doing the dining plan and by doing the split stay, it is allowing me to do QSDP for the first two and the last 3 nights and then do the regular dining plan for the middle two nights. This way, we can still do 2 sit down dinners which is all we wanted.

I don't think you are crazy at all. On our last trip we did OKW for 5 nights, AKV for 3 nights, and POR for the last 2 nights. :goodvibes

We have moved on trips, but we do have a car so it isn't that bad. DH, DS, and DD do the luggage moving and I pack. I don't know if that is good or bad.

This year we are staying 6 nites at WL and not moving:banana:, except our first nite will be at Pop, since we will be arriving late. I like to stay on property the nite before, then we are up early and check into DVC early around 8:00 and go to a park for the day, in case our room is not ready.

Good luck and I'm sure you'll have a great time as long as you are at Disney in a DVC unit.

I didn't even think about groceries. Hmmm. I'm thinking maybe this is just going to be too much trouble. We're flying down and won't have a car, plus we have a 3 year old DD.

Bell Services will move your stuff, including groceries, and keep them cold/frozen as need be. I would just plan to live out of the suitcases, and check out early, using a park for mid-day. As a PP suggested, one member of the party could travel to the next location, and check-in early.

You'll be fine, and maybe the WL will come through for you.

I guess I am in the minority here, but there is no way I would do this. While transferring from resort to resort isn't so bad, doing it three times in a five night stay seems a little much for me. Add in doing it without use of a car and having a 3 year old, and I would vote for "crazy." It might be different if it was a transfer between Boardwalk/Beach Club, etc. Check out BLT on another trip...it's not going anywhere. Good luck!

Personally, I really dislike split stays but if that's the only way to make it work, then I would go for it crazy or not! Hey, you're still on vacation and at WDW! You might want to take a side trip to Kidani to show your MIL what she's missing!

Have a great time!

That is one of the busiest DVC weeks of the year, I would not count on a waitlist coming through.

Is SSR really so much closer to the action than Kidani that your FIL thought it was worth moving three times? Especially with a 3 year old.

Im just back and due to flights, we ended up having to change rooms from BCV to VWL.

The other hassle is that although checkout time is at 11am, we had housekeeping trying to get into our room at 8am and several times after. You can hang the DND sign, but we also got the multiple phone rings and hangups too.:headache:

It's just too much stress on vacation. My DH is much happier when we do not have to pack and unpack. Even for a night there are multiple things you need, like groceries, electronics, toiletries, sleep wear, clothes for the next day, swimwear, etc.

I'm with you. No way would I do it on such a short trip, especially with a young one. It will seem like all you are doing is moving and you will probably be without a room between check out (11 am) and check in (after 4 pm) for each move.

People say Disney makes it easy, but Bell Services moves on their schedule, not yours.

If there is a way to eliminate or reduce the number of moves, I'd go for it.
