Is this possible? (another newbie question)

We are in the process of looking at contracts right now to purchase our first DVC One contract we are looking at has a use year of August with some banked points. My understanding is we will get those banked points plus our 2011 points (as the contract states) We wish to take a vacation (hopefully 1 bedroom) late Oct-early Nov. 2011 using those banked points plus some of the 2011 points will be needed. There will be left over 2011 points. Are we able to bank those left over points to use AFTER Aug 2012? My second question is, how realistic is it that we would be able to get reservations for our home resort (BWV) this fall since obviously we are not in that 11 month booking window (not overly concerned as I would like to get to all the Villas over the upcoming years)

'10 aug points that have been banked into '11 UY can be used thru 7/31/12.

When you make your fall '11 reservation, make sure that MS uses the banked points first (they're pretty good at doing this on their own, but it doesn't hurt to ask). Any '11 points left over can be banked into '12, but the '10 points (once having been banked) will not survive into the 3rd UY.

edited to adress your 2nd question...it might be difficult getting a BWV ressie for this fall - the BWV/BC fill up very fast that time of year due to the Food & Wine Festival and lower point costs.
I'm sure you could get a ressie, but it might need to be at OKW or SSR....but you won't know until you can try to make a reservation.

Thanks so much for your quick answer! I just wanted to make sure we wouldn't be losing (or actually having to use )our 2011 points prior to Aug. 2012 if we banked a large portion of them. The 2010 banked points would cover about 3/4 of what we would need for a reservation (based on if possible at BWV this fall) I'm willing to stay at any of the villas- as long as I am at Disney I am a happy girl

Just remember that of your Aug '11 points - what you want banked has to be banked by 3/31/12 (can't bank within the last 4 months of a UY).

I own at both BWV and OKW...and I can't imagine not being equally happy at either

Ok I will make a note of that concerning banking points (just to clarify-Mar. 31st is the last day I can bank any points with an August UY correct?)
I have never been (or even seen in person OKW but have looked at MANY many pictures and YouTube videos of all the different resorts)
Last year was the first time we were financially able to stay in the park and I chose Boardwalk (long time dream of mine). We loved it (reminded us of the Jersey shore-we grew up going there every summer)

And, just one more added piece. You have bank points prior to having them available for a vacation.

So, if you want to use your leftover 2011 UY points for travel during your Aug 2012 UY, you have to bank them prior to booking that trip.

For example, say you want to travel again in Dec 2012--this takes place in your Aug 2012 UY so you can use those banked 2011 UY points. Your 11 month window for this trip would be Jan 2012 so to use the 2011 UY points, you would have to bank them before you booked that trip. It can be done in the same call but you must tell MS to do it.
