I own Copper Creek direct. I just added on resale with a different UY (not by choice). I was told I would have to start a new membership account and use a different email and login. We closed roughly 2 weeks ago and when I logged on today I saw both contracts on my dashboard. Is this a new thing or did Disney make a mistake?

You were just misinformed. A new UY has always generated a new membership, but like you my second UY/membership popped up on my pre-existing member page..

So to be clear. If I bought a resale contract with the same UY, then it would fall under my original membership ID?

As long as it titled the same exact way, yes.

ETA: How was buying a resale contract in another UY not a choice?

We purchased an Aug UY to match my Copper Creek contract. We got it in 10 days before the restriction change. One day after the new restrictions started I got an email from my broker saying the Aug UY was a typo and it was in fact September instead. We really were only buying to have the contract without restrictions, so I went forward with the September instead of being left with nothing.

Aaaah. Wow. That's a horrible story.

You don't need a separate login (Club ID) though. You can have both memberships under the same login. It still won't let you combine points or any of that fun stuff, but you won't have to have multiple credentials. Not much consolation, I know.

Good luck.

It won't be too hard to manage two different UYs when they are close like that. You can transfer from one to the other when you want to combine your points at seven months out. Just remember you cannot borrow transferred points and they won't show up as transferred on the website.

We own at seven resorts with three bought at resale and different use years. And we just purchased OKW at resale. We currently have four different member accounts which all show up on our dvc account online with one sign in. While you can’t transfer points between use years and member accounts online you can do it through the phone line. We have not found it all difficult to manage.

I was under the impression you would need a new login for each different membership ID. Knowing that its all under the same login will makes things so much easier. Thanks for all the info.

Is it harder for you to manage with 2 different use years?
For us its really isn't difficult to manage, others don't like it.
We travel twice a year. One contract is in the fall for F&W, the other is in the spring for F&G. For the way we travel the different UYs make sense and works.
