Is this line cutting?

Personally I find the actual physical aspects of "getting through the line" rude, awkward and uncomfortable. Trust people are saying "excuse me" to everyone. They are only saying to those that don't see they are trying to push past them.

I wouldn't WANT to do it. For any reason.

The nosebleed family.... while what you did was perfectly fine in that situation.... we likely would have all left the line together in that case.

But hey ~ if everyone were like our family what fun would the world be?

We did 7 days in the parks last week. The only time I got annoyed with 'line cutters' is TSM of course. We went straight to the stand by line at rope drop and were in line outside. Most families went to the stand by lines while the dads went to the FP line. The dads would go meet up with their families after they got the FPs. Now you don't think that's a big deal but imagine almost every single FP person doing that. I swear the line didn't move for 15 minutes for the FP people cutting in. I don't really know if it's considered cutting since the CM was opening the chain and letting them in. I guess one or two people doing it wouldn't have annoyed me so much but I know it was at least 30 in 10 minutes.

Other than that everyone was great. There was one woman going up through the line at Test Track but every few moments she would announce that she was just looking for an exit. Also another woman did it at Soaring but also she announced to everyone that was just trying to find her kid. She did and they both exited. I was actually very surprised at the good line etiquette at Disney. It was much better than other parks I've visited.

What lines are you people waiting in that you have to get out to go to the bathroom? If you are waiting more than 20 minutes in line, you are doing something wrong.

But... besides that, I think there is a general understanding when it comes to leaving for a potty break. You aren't taking up room in line that you didn't take up before you left to begin with.

But if you didn't get in line and just try to cut in, that's different.

2 very good points. Personally I am not so offended by a bathroom emergency or run to get water. It is not the end of the world to me. But Uncle Bob should hold the place while wifey, kid sister and extended family all go to the bathroom.

Depending on the number in their party, many of them would not make a difference because they end up sitting next to a family member that would have taken up the seat anyway. I doubt this was really a consideration for most though. It is interesting that the CM was letting them in.

Wow. I didn't have the energy to read all of the post in this thread, but I sure do hope that on our upcoming trip we don't encounter any "iron clad line rules" nazis. And I also hope that throngs of people don't push past us as they brazenly cut in line. I'm pretty sure that I can handle anything that falls in the middle. :)
Cheers everyone.
Have a magical evening.

I've always wondered if people think it's ok to have a family member hold your spot if you have to go to the restroom, and then when you come back they get back out of line. I have had to do this in the past, even if I go before I get in line. :sad1:

TyTy - seems there is no clear cut answer here on the Dis. I do promise that if you are pleasant and well-mannered, I won't use my mighty strength to block your access to your family. Just don't plan on bringing a gaggle of other folks with you, as that would seem rude. Unfortunately, you might encounter some guests, who despite your most polite requests, will refuse to let you pass. I'm guessing, however, that if it's just you, most vacationers will let you join your group. Here's hoping anyway...

Yeah I've found that out. I don't bring anyone with me, I've only ever asked a family member to save my spot while I head there, and then they leave once I get back. I hope I haven't made anyone mad by this, but unfortunately, there's not much else I can do. :/

No, I don't. They're part of the group and the group is already in line. Chances are 1 person is not going to make that big of a difference anyway, but no... if they already have family in line I wouldn't get mad at them for "cutting" to join them.

I agree , this is line cutting and really iritatin. I would say there are some exceptions but at least let people behind you know you are leaving and coming back but, you should all enter the line together if you want to ride together.

I think this thread has run it's course so I'm going to close it now.
