Has anyone made a reservation using points from one resort and then later (when the window opend for another resort) canceled that and made a new reservation for the same days and room size. I need to make reservations at OKW but use BWV points for October. The room is available now but may not be in March when I can make the Reservation with BWV points. How do you all do this? Is it legal to make the resevation at OKW now and then in April cancel it and remake the same reservation using BWV points?

I think you are asking if you can make a res at your home resort and then at the 7 month window make a res at the resort you want and cancel your home res?

If this is what you are asking... the answer is yes.

I do this myself at my home resort BCV to garentee me a room and at the 7 month change some of the days to another resort to split up our stay between two resorts and check out a new resort each year.

You can do it. However, before you can book the room with your BWV points at 7 months, you need to formally cancel the booking under the OKW points. After the cancellation occurs, the room will first be made available to anyone on the Waitlist. If there is nobody on the waitlist, you can then rebook with your BWV points.

It really doesn't sidestep the rules--you'd get to the same place by just waiting until 7 months to book the room in the first place.

EDIT: I am, of course, assuming that you have points at both OKW and BWV, and simply want to juggle a reservation from one set of points to another. As I re-read the original post, you don't actually say that you have OKW points. If all of your points are at BWV, then you simply have to wait until 7 mos to book.

I want to make a reservation at home resort #1 (OKW) then at the 7 month window use home resort #2 points (BWV) instead of home resort #1 points. Can this be done?

You would still have to cancel the original reservation, then rebook using the other points. As long as you didn't borrow points to make the first reservation, your points will still be okay. You can't put your points back into the future year. As long as you haven't missed your banking period if you needed to bank the original points.

But if there is a waiting list, once you cancel your reservation, you go to the bottom of the waiting list and the person at the top gets your cancelled reservation.

Gotcha.

Does my post answer your question, then? Yes, you can do it, but when you try to switch from your OKW points to BWV points, the room is briefly exposed to the waitlist folks and there is a chance you could lose the room.

I'm not certain whether MS can tell you whether there is anyone on the waitlist before you cancel or not. They seem pretty limited in the info they can provide regarding the waitlist.

MS will know if there is immediate availability for the reservation using the BWV points at OKW. If there is availability, you can do exactly what your hoping for- if there is not availability, then anyone on the waitlist would have access to the original reservation before you'd be able to use your BWV points. You'd then have to decide whether to cancel the original res and use the waitlist or just keep the res made with the OKW points. in most cases, you should be OK for October right at 7 months (unless it's for a GV).

Good luck! :)

Right you are DOC. It's a GV. Everyone has given me enough info to know what to do. Big TKS

If some days are available but others aren't you can trade out the points on a day by day basis and go on the wait list for the other days then only cancel when it's available. But if they were to just let you sub the points, you'd essentially be using your BWV points at the 11 month window, not fair to the other owners who were on the wait list.
