Is this just silly?

When the news broke about the increased security, I went out and bought a clear plastic backpack to use as my carry-on when I fly on Wednesday. Things seem to be calming to the point where a clear carry-on might just be silly. Thoughts?

What's wrong with trying to make things easier for security and you. I've read where security likes the clear bags when it comes to disney parks.

That is a really good idea. I like the idea of clear carry ons so nothing is hidden.

My sister used a clear plastic back pack when we went and in every park the guards told her how much they loved it when people used them because it made it easier for them.

On the local news last night Midway and O'Hare were experiencing quicker than usual security lines BECAUSE so many people had minimized their carry-ons and checked more bags. I think anything we can do to make the entire process smoother is a plus.

Easier for the human security at the parks but through security at airports they all look the same going through the x-ray machine ;)

It was a good idea and I'm glad to see someone being proactive about the security measures rather than complaining about them :thumbsup2

Ooooooooo...and think how everybody else will be jealous when they see all those cool Disney souveniers that you bought!!! You'd be like a walking advert for World of Disney. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

I think it's cool. Anything to help and speed up the process is fantastic. Just don't put your wallet in there ... I think it may be tempting for some...even in the Happiest Place on Earth.

Have a safe flight and don't forget to have fun. The anticipation of the Disney experience is half the fun...so don't let the past week's events ruin that for you. :cloud9:

good ideas, but plastic is hot on the body to carry around.

I am leaving Monday and had planned on taking a clear plastic backpack that I already had. I'll have to rethink that because of the heat.

I don't like backpacks in the parks - hate having another layer on my sweaty back! I use a small fanny pack for the parks when I want to bring my camera, and the contents of that pack are already divided into ziploc sandwich bags just to keep them dry - but I've noticed in the past that having everything bagged still makes it easier for the security people at the gates as I just lift out the 2-3 bags and zip through the checkpoint.

As far as a "wallet" is concerned, another thread here on the DIS chronicles my quest for a clear ID holder on a lanyard that will also hold my room key/charge card and a small amount of cash. On days when we travel "light" in the parks, that will be the only thing I take in with me.

Good idea! I also like that maybe you can actually see what's at the bottom. Anything I want is on the bottom!

Have fun!!
