Haven't been to Disney World in 20 years. We are two adults in our early 40s with no children and not high energy people. We do however, want to see as much as possible since this is probably going to be our only opportunity to go. I'm concerned it's going to be too much walking. I'm thinking we might want to do Epcot in two days and that we'll probably be too worn out to do the Liberty Square area at the Magic Kingdom. We'd would like to do the Enchanted Tiki room but it's not near the other attractions that are interested in. I'm wondering how far of a walk it really is from the park entrance and thinking about trying to do it on one of the Epcot half days.

Day 1. Travel Day Staying at Friend’s Locally

Day 2. (Check in Poly Before or After Animal Kingdom?)

Animal Kingdom (being driven to gate)

Must do:

Safari

Nomad Lounge (Tiffians) (Lunch)

Flight of Passage

Dinner Jinko

We'd llke to do feathered Friends in flight but are concerned about walking all the way to Asia just for that.

Day 3. Epcot

Must Do:

Soarin

Spaceship Earth

The Land

World Showcase (Possible Day 4?)

American Experience

German/Italy/France Pavilions (Japan Morocco)

Would like to do: (Possible Day 4?)

China/Norway etc.

Wouldn't mind doing:

UK, Canada

Day 4 or 5

Rest/Resort Day

Day 5 or 6

Magic Kingdom

Must Do:

Dumbo

Sideshow (meet Goofy)

Winnie the Pooh (meet Tiger)

Lunch Cinderella's Castle

Would really like to do:

Enchanted tiki room

Would like to do:

Hall of Presidents

Jungle Cruise

Riverboat

Day 6 or 7

Check Out

Universal

Dr. Seuss Landing

Hawaiian Dinner (Saturday)

Staying at Friend's that night/next day

Based on what you’ve said I’d definitely split Epcot over two days. World Showcase is a lot of walking compared to some of the other parks. Maybe tackle some of it on day three and then the rest another day.

Beyond that though, it definitely doesn’t look too ambitious. Feathered Friends In Flight is on the Africa side of Asia so really isn’t that far from the Safari and then you can head to Pandora or the exit (depending on what order you do things in) via Discovery Island rather than having to go back through Africa.

Cinderella’s Castle to Hall of Presidents to the Riverboat to Tiki Room (via the cut through next to the Country Bears) isn’t far either.

Your park plans are very doable. I don't quite think AK and MK will be too much walking at all based on what you want to do and your selected attractions. You really don't have much on the list for either park. For epcot, you might be wise to split it into 2 days depending on how deep you dive into each country, but you really don't have a lot for attractions at Epcot either so splitting it into 2 days may not be necessary.

To help with the walking around Epcot, there is a friendship boat that goes from Canada across to Morocco, I think, but it cuts down on walking time if you decide to break up your WS countries.

There's no denying it, WDW is a lot of walking. If you are concerned about the amount of walking, I would do some "training" at home. We average anywhere from 15K-25K steps at Disney in a day depending on where we're staying. We're in our 40s also and usually do just fine, including the summer months. We're fairly active but I will say, I do increase my cardio before we go.

Your plan is certainly doable, dare I say easy. I'm a 65 year old smallish woman with bad knees and osteopenia. While I do sorta kinda maybe try to work out at home by doing walking DVDs and strength training, the reality is usually I end up doing maybe 3 days one week and not again for a couple of weeks. The walking DVDs can be as short as a mile and I rarely do more than 4 lbs on the strength training. So, not in great shape but not in bad shape. I can (and do) walk around WS 2 to 4 times in a day in the middle of the summer (I always seem to forget something I wanted to eat, see or do on the opposite side). I also walk around AK at least twice during one day. On any of those given days I've walked from Dolphin to Epcot or HS and maybe back to either one of those again and/or walked from HS to Epcot on any of those days. I have no problems with it. I do find having a hot tub at the resort a must, ibuprofen in the morning before I leave, during my afternoon break back at the resort and before I go to bed helps. And good shoes, more than one pair. I never wear the same pair two days in a row, usually take about 3 pairs. That also comes in handy when it rains and it takes two days for one pair to dry out. My feet don't allow me to wear closed toed shoes often so those shoes are usually something live Tevas or Skeetchers sandals.

Thanks! We'd love to walk through all of World Showcase if possible and if we split Epcot into two days we'd like to go to the Boathouse in Disney Springs for dinner on our "Spaceship Earth Day". We're also thinking about getting a Minnie Van (I guess that's Disney's version of Lyft) to the World Showcase entrance on the day we go.

For that Magic Kingdom we're planning to take the train up to the Dumbo area then walk to the Castle for lunch, hit Liberty Square then the Tiki Room and walk out through Main St. It looks far on the map (farther than World Showcase) but it's hard to tell.

We started to get a bit scared with all that books warning about all the walking and factoring in line waiting ( we're planning to Genie+/Lighting Lane where we can). We're not horribly out of shape, but I have a bad back. Regular walking doesn't agitate it much but my legs can get worn out pretty quickly because they're always compensating for my back. We have started upping our cardio.

You may know this already but you don't have to do a minnie van, you can use uber or lyft as they operate at WDW but a minnie van at epcot will drop you a little closer than at the ride share drop offs. And they're super fun to take and always very nice but of course are more $. Your plans at MK sound good. The nice thing about google maps is you can drop your plans in it and get directions on a map for walking. All of what you want to do is less than 2 mi of walking so that's not bad at all.

When you say the " getting a Minnie Van to the World Showcase" entrance, that is the backside of Epcot. The closest you can be dropped off is at the Beach Club, you would have to walk or take a boat to the actual IG entrance. Otherwise, I think you have a good plan, and remember, you can stop and relax on a bench somewhere, there's no place better than WDW for people watching!

I saw in another thread people were saying that Uber/Lyft can't drop off at the World Showcase entrance. Maybe there is more than one entrance? We're happy to take an Uber just didn't walk all the way from the World Celebration gate.

The closest entrance to the World Showcase is the International Gateway, and there are no roadways to it.

The easiest Uber drop off spot will be the Dolphin, because there’s no guard at the gate and the Uber can drive up to the front door and drop you off. Then you walk through the hotel to the walkway or the Friendship Boat to the IG.

The closest Uber drop off would be the Beach Club, but there’s a guard at the gate, and if you don’t have a dining reservation at the BC they might not let you in, especially near park opening.

Ah, thanks! Can you ride the boat from Dolphin if you're not staying there? Is it a boat ride from Beach Club too?

As above, anyone can ride the boats.

But from BC to IG is much quicker to walk. BC is actually closer to the IG than the Yacht & Beach boat dock is.
