Is this impossible?

We are going to try for the first time ever to rent points for our family vacation this year. I cannot officially book the trip until the first week in July. With that being said- is it totally impossible that I will be able to find a 2 bedroom villa for Thanksgiving week?? I honestly don't totally understand how this all works and want to be prepared to just book a regular reservation with 2 rooms somewhere if this has no chance of working out.

Possible. Not necessarily probable, though.

Best chance will be SSR. OKW & AKV-Kidani are less likely, but still possible. Availability for any other WDW DVC resort is virtually zero. My opinion. Hope you get lucky.

The odds would significantly improve if you could book this month.

You will likely be very disappointed in availability less than 5 months before when you need to go, especially since you want to book Thanksgiving week. DVC works best for people who book 7-11 months in advance.

DVC members are restricted to booking their home resort, the one they purchased, at 11 months or less and to book at another resort at 7 months. So usually a member will book their own resort at 11 months and then at 7 months try to switch to another resort. Thanksgiving week is during the most popular period for DVC members to book. Everyone wants to go to food and wine and one of parties at MK, either MVMCP or just be at WDW during the holiday week with family.

I am not sure why you have to wait until July, but by waiting you will have less of a chance to get any room, let alone a 2 BR. Some of the DVC resorts are already fully booked.

Edited because I couldn't figure out why you weren't reserving in the 7 mth window, then I reread and realized you're trying to rent. I agree with Carol MN about the resort availability being most likely at SSR.

Thanks for the responses. I appreciate the input. I will hope for a miracle but plan for needing to book regular rooms. We have to wait till July due to scheduling reasons- if certain things don't line up then we have to change our dates and I know I wouldn't be able to do that once a rental is booked and paid. I hate it because we would have loved to stay in a 2 bedroom DVC room vs 2 rooms at a value/mod.
