Is this how "bashing" first begins?

I have been telling those poor SSR owners to hold on... As soon at VAK opens it gets the coveted title "Worst DVC Resort EVER!" LOL!

I am not joking. It's a proven trend.

So for those of you who just bought VAK. DO NOT PANIC when you read how bad it is. Hang on, with luck Disney will open CRV soon and it will take the title away.

The bashing will be every bit as bad as SSR. However, it will NOT be an internet wide occurance. It's a DIS board special. My suggestion... just don't open threads titled. "My horrid stay at XYX" Or "Why I don't like" or etc. You get the idea.

I just hope for the sake of AKV owners, it will not get as ugly as the SSR bashing got. People getting banned, people leaving the boards, etc. Even though I am a SSR/OKW lover, I can see positives to each and every resort. I have no problem reading someone didn't love my home, but to say and listen to some of the going back and forth on both sides, well made my stomach turn.

Yep, those anti-SSR days were a tad over the top. Who can forget the Community housing project thread?

you should of been here for the BWV - now that was bashing....

SSR was too to some degree - but BWV some disers acted like it was insult to them. so silly. that anyone who brought at BWV was an idiot, etc. very personally attacks.

but so far every new resort has been bashed - so yea I would expect it of AKV. Some people want everything to stay the same - change upsets them.

to others of us, change is the spicy of life. the more different DVC resort there are for me the better.

My parents will be staying in AKV for our contract's first use of points in September 07. AT LEAST I think we can count on clean rooms/no shower curtain mold (unless they install mold as part of construction).

There is nothing that I can read that can make me change my mind that the
AKV, BWV, VWL and VB purchases that we have made are good for me and my family. When the hurricanes hit, and VB was heavily damaged, there was a fair amount of talk here about DVC divesting itself of VB...well, that made me think a bit, but I/we can live with whatever happens on that score.

The recent AKV thread that seemed to emphasize the "half empty" aspect of the resort reminded me very much of some past threads that put down SSR. I did reply to that thread once, but won't anymore.

I do read some horror stories here, but mostly, it's to learn what to do in case I come up against something that is unacceptable.

"My unacceptable thing hasn't been addressed here with a satisfactory outcome. I am trying to get a reply from MS regarding a ressie of mine that was lost and my two letters of "protest" have been ignored. We've been going to WDW since the late '70's and sometimes Disney hasn't given me an answer that I've liked, but I have always had the curtesy of a reply...MS hasn't done that... DH and I are both dismayed at that. End of rant.

Because of the lost ressie, we're staying at SSR in just 12 days, our second trip, the first was when it was barely opened and just for one night, so now, we'll get to see the mature trees and experience this resort and it's amenities. I hope to see some wildlife...like an bald eagle, the picture that was posted awhile back with the eagle outside of the villa, the otters at OKW, deer at VW, bunnies everywhere, (a few snakes that we've seen at different resortsL...those are the things that I notice and make my stay more enjoyable.

I like reading the bashing -exaggeration- posts the thought that goes into some of the posts is just amazing...... Personal ones I do not like I am talking about long hallways being able to reach the fridge form the balcony a 30 minute walk to the main building...... I have some good ideas for AKV myself I would stay there also and have stayed at AKL I would never call anyone anything for buying somewhere that is just not right we all buy for a reason and that is for each person or family to justify only.

Some of those quotes about reaching the fridge from the balcony were done in jest. Take what you read with grain of salt and a chill pill, and it wont bother you. It's like folks calling my home, "OLD" Key West. I don't care....just leaves more room for me there!

When I first joined the Dis-boards, the resort du jour for bashing was BWV, with a little SSR thrown in the mix. I wasn't "tuned in" at the beginning, when tiny seeds of distaste were sown, so I don't know how long before the full crop comes in.

Like it or not, those 'hot' controversial threads are the ones which are most read. I rarely join in but always read them

I think each resort has positives and negatives. And everyone has their own opinions. I, for one, am looking forward to staying at different resorts to have some variety and to experience what each one offers. I see no need to "bash" or make any negative comments. Of course, I am a newbie...

Well obviously. I mean could you really imagine that taking place? You get a 6 foot tall character bumbling about your room, along with his character greeter. Someone goes snap happy with the camera ("Look here's Mickey tucking me in") and all the while you are dressed down in your PJs (or in my case some ratty ol' t-shirt with my hair all frizzed out).

How on earth are you to feel comfortable doing that?

Not to mention, what if Minnie arrived the next morning to serve you breakfast in bed. You slowly open your eyes and BOOM there's a giant mute mouse with an eternal smile in your face. I'd be wailing like the terrified 2 year olds I see in a park.

So THAT'S what happened to our DD(now 5) when we went to DL in '04. We wondered how she developed "6 foot rat syndrome". Must've slept through that somehow...

Personally I would not agree that DVC has successfully integrated the SSR points into the system without tilting it. Maybe it'll work out in the long run for the members that want to use the 7 month window but I feel SSR has already skewed the system and it will be worse one all the points are sold and the new buyers get a trip or two under their belt. Unfortunately the membership will likely never have the specific information to know for certain where things stand.

All I know is, CRV is an absolute dump! Dirt floors, noisy construction equipment moving around all day, and no privacy at all!

On the other hand, having all of Bay Lake as my bathtub kind of rocks!

I don't believe that's correct. Not being able to prove it with numbers does not make it incorrect. Frankly I think there's already enough circumstantial evidence to prove there has already been a shift. I think most will believe what they want to believe. And as I've said before, if you buy where you want to stay it really doesn't matter, plus as one who plans to make most stays as II exchanges, it will help me out.
