You don’t need to use a FP for Monsters Inc. Swap those for Big Thunder Mountain and if 2 members of your party don’t want to ride it, 2 others can use their FPs for a re-ride.

As soon as you enter the line for FP#3, you can book FP#4 and so on.

Here’s the Priority List from the FP FAQ at the top of this forum page:

What resort are you staying at? That’s a big factor in your pool and dinner break.
3 hours isn’t much time unless you are at a very nearby resort.

Agree with the above, no need for monsters fastpass.

Also with parade at 3 you won’t be out of park till 3:30 earliest, then travel time to the hotel, you probably won’t be in room till 4:30 (unless staying on monorail). This cuts into downtime especially when you say you want to be on Aladdin at 6.

During an afternoon in August your Pirates and Jungle Cruise waits could be an hour. Try to pick up extra fastpasses for them.

Your morning plan looks solid!

Definitely book a sdfp for something that evening as soon as you can. I agree you may not be allowing enough time for your resort break. Even if you’re close by, it can take some time to get back to your resort, dressed for the pool, etc. otherwise, looks good to me!

re not using fp for monster, is big thunder mountain ok for a 4 yr old? in addition based on the priority faq dumbo is not recommended for fp what should i sub it with?
re break, hotel is 15 min uber ride away. 3 hr break is allowing for half hr transport each way and two hours at pool/rest etc.
parade moves to 2pm late august.
what are the odds of having same day fast pass success to fit with my proposed late afternoon/eve schedule?

It has a 40” height requirement and isn’t much different than 7DMT. If he decides not to ride, 1 adult can stay with him and then that adult + another child, using your DS’ FP, can ride.

You have to get to the Transportation Center via Monorail or Ferry to meet your Uber ride. You’ll need to factor in closer to an hour for transport from/to MK.

Is there a reason why you don’t have Haunted Mansion listed? You can sub HM for FPs.

are wdw resort buses also from transportation center or do those stop closer? perhaps that will be more efficient?

re haunted mansion, if it is slightly scary, might not be for my kids.

It looks very tiring for the kids of 4, 7 and 9.

The plan after 6pm is too tight. Standby lines are long for some rides.

I'm always concerned about terms like 'arrive.' Do you mean stepping out of your Uber, or do you mean you're through security & ticket turnstiles & walking down main street?

I didn't look it up, but I'm assuming a posted 9am open time & NO EMH or DAH this day, otherwise rides in Fantasyland will be backed up with lines you're not prepared for.

In general, when people plan to walk in & ride a ride at the opening time, their arrival time is not 15 minutes before, its closer to an hour, you're just choosing to have your wait be before official opening. Also most people wanting to see fireworks stake out a spot 1-2 hours before. If you want to watch from any sidewalk on the backside of the castle because you don't want to devote that kind of wait time, then you'll be fine, you just won't get the projection part of the show.

Also, the time between rides is not sufficient. The jungle cruise & IASW, for instance, would be close to 30 min. if there were absolutely NO line. Its slow to load &/or disembark. These are both good to try for a 4th/5th FP on.

I think you've underestimated the power of 3 kids to need restroom & snack breaks, or have a character encounter derail a plan. I always agree to have a rough plan, but I think this one has a potential to be missed by a mile... and maybe you're OK with that??

I was thinking the same thing. The arrival time made me uneasy given that we get to teh parks at least 45 minutes before RD, and in the MK it really matters.

As far as the schedule, I think it may start out working but I don't think it is a reasonable August schedule. It is freakin hot in August, and it pays to get in early, and get out before the sun is high in the sky. I would consider skipping the afternoon parade to get back to the resort to swim and cool off. Allow an hour travel time to and from the parks, and be happy if it is less than that. SO, it you want to have time to relax and swim at the resort and be back to be on an attraction by 6, , leave the park by 1PM the latest, and head back to the park by 4:45. In the plan I cannot see time to eat dinner , even though it is listed. 3 hours to travel, swim eat and return is simply not going to work.

OP- I would look at your olan and consider it an outline pick the most important attractions or events, and consider the rest a bonus. Your schedule is tight IMO to begin with, and with kids in SUmmer, almost unmanageable unless heat, humidity, shopping eating and characters are not factor. Our August trip with kids got us out of the resort well before RD, out of the park by or just after lunchtime, and back in around dinnertime and after dark.

We went last year with a 5 and 7 year old for 2 weeks in August. All attractions you have noted can be done in one day. As others have said, it is difficult to plan the the exact timing of things at that tine of year. Apart from the heat, there is an almost daily heavy rain storm.... great to clear the park in the afternoon.... but would mean we would sometimes have to hangout at a restaurant or shop for a bit.

We would use to app on our phone to pick attractions/ sections of the park to visit based on wait times. Most popular rides needing FP for my daughters were Seven Dwarves, Big Thunder and Jungle Cruise.

We kept the following rides for when we needed to get out of the sun.
  • monsters inc laugh fl
  • it’s a small world
  • mickey's philharmagic
  • Character meets (sometimes long waits, great to get out of the heat or wait out a storm)
People mover and Carousel of progress are our favorite way to rest!

re haunted mansion, if it is slightly scary, might not be for my kids.

The buses are closer to the MK entrance. If you are staying at a WDW, you can get the bus just to the left of the MK entrance. You can also get a Minnie Van in that area if you feel pressed for time and feel like splurging. You mention your resort is 15 minutes away. I would allow 15 minutes to walk to the bus, 20 minutes to wait for a bus and then the 15 minutes to drive and then walk to your hotel room. That's about a 2 hour round-trip to MK. I, personally, don't think it's feasible to watch the parade, go back to a resort to swim and change and eat and then be back in the park riding Aladdin at 6 pm unless you are staying at an MK resort.

HM can be scary for many. I would skip it if you think your children would be scared. I didn't take DS until he was about 9 and he fully understand everything inside was fake. You may want to add Enchanted Tales to your list. Tiki Room and Country Bears are also cute and do not require a FP+

IMHO there is no way this sort of schedule can work in real time.... a ride every 1/2 hour isn't doable.(or enjoyable at all) even the rides that are close together take more time than that in general, add in walking, looking, stopping for bathroom,or to cool off somewhere and....I wouldn't recommend it. Plan your fave big 3 attractions with some fp.which will force a space of at least an hour in between(if you're lucky) and I wouldn't recommend leaving Mk the way you've outlined for less than a two hour 'break' which won't feel at all relaxing by the time you get back into MK that evening. I much prefer finding a place to slow down and cool off in park with a schedule that packed. Here's a real time tip,for some reason, Peter Pan has a line of about 45 minutes at opening, and that's with getting there well before open time and heading straight in as fast as you can.Calulculate time in a line+ride time to get the barest minimum between rides. The magic won't happen IMHO if you try to stick to a schedule this tight.

I also suggest that people go to Touringplans to set up a mock plan. It is not always accurate, but will help to see how long it can take to get to an attraction, stand in line, go through the attraction, and then exit. And hit the bathroom. There is always someone who needs to stop. Always. LOL!

I agree with Touringplans giving a good idea of what could be accomplished. I have used it on a number of trips. It has been fairly accurate, though we were always traveling with a large group of 6-9, so we moved a bit slower. But I use it as a guide as opposed to a hard and fast plan. It takes the waffling out of what to do next, but I always go in with the idea that we might do something different spur of the moment.

Please make sure you allow yourself some time to just look around and enjoy the atmosphere. If it's everyone's first time at Magic Kingdom, don't rush through the gates to the back. There's some magic walking up Main Street the first time, seeing the castle. Pictures can wait until later, when the crowds dissipate a bit on Main St.

And, don't forget to look around as you race through the park. The "themeing" everywhere is incredible.

This isn't likely unless you get really lucky. You are only allowing 30 minutes to walk to rides, wait in line, and ride the ride. At least 3-4 of these rides are bound to have much more than a 30 minute wait.
