We are paying for the memory maker pictures option. Dont they have characters walking around the park that we can take pictures with between rides?

No, the characters are all in meet and greet areas with lines. The bigger characters have elaborate sets with hour-long waits or more and you need a FP.

You can see some of the characters outside, but they have long lines.

You might want to look at some photos of what the crowds look like at Disney. Everything has to be controlled because of the large number of people.

Does the disney app have real time line/wait times for rides/attractions?
Say we want to visit a ride on the other side of the park and fast pass is not available, is there a way to check how long the wait is before we head there?

Characters do not randomly walk around outside. Most are indoors and lines can be long...especially if you want to see Mickey. There are some characters outside, but they will be in specific spots and again you will have to wait in line. (You do a lot of standing in lines at Disney!)

There are photopass photographers in various locations throughout the park and many of these are for pics of landmarks- the Castle for example.

Out of curiosity, are you only there for one day total or will you be in the parks any other days? For a 1st trip, if at all possible MK is easily a two park day.

Yes the app does have wait times.

I would add the people mover ride to your list. Its a nice relaxing 10 minute ride that the kids will love. Usually less then a 5 minute wait to get on. Sometimes we ride it twice!
