I'm a volunteer physio for a local football club. Every Sunday i'm there for at least 3.5 hours. They supplied me with a medical/supply bag but to be honest it has next to nothing that is useful, so I asked would it be ok to buy some of the supplies I needed, They said fine just hand the invoices in. I did this in January and only got my money back this today after 11 weeks!!!, however the manager lost both of the invoices fortunately I had the original one still and could claim for most of my money, but I had no copy for the other so I won't get any money back for it. I know the club has little money but it wasn't as if they didn't know what I was doing. Today I have run out of tape but i'm reluctant to use mine or order more knowing I will be out of pocket. I'm doing this for experience hoping I will get some paid work as a physio soon but i'm wondering if it is worth it.

Sorry I needed to rant.

Having done voluntary work in the past. It is all very well giving your time for free. This is usually a way of then getting paid work further on down the line. However, actually paying for the items that you will need is a different matter. I can appreciate that it is a small company, limited resources etc but there comes a time when you are in danger of being taken advantage of. Think this time has arrived IMHO:hug:

I'm considering my options, I only do home matches now as they don't have a minibus and I would have to drive to the likes of Norwich (a 7 hour round trip!) and pay my own fuel. The manager is leaving at the end of season which is a good thing as he rarely listens to anything I say.

I feel a little guilty though if I leave as my old lecturer suggested me for the position knowing I was struggling for paid work.

In business people move all the time for money! I'm sure your lecturer would understand given the recent circumstances.

Perhaps the Manager leaving is a good thing - the replacement could be more receptive to your circumstances.

True, shes not the sort of person to get angry/upset etc about it.

I hope we get a decent manager. The manager we all want maybe emmigrating to Orlando, the team will find out about June time.

June is not that long to wait till. If the new Manager is not receptive then perhaps it would be time to move on. In my experience, there are lots of companies/organisations willing to use people in the Voluntary Sector.
