Is this doable? Re: BOG and BBB

We have our reservation at BBB at 1:40 (downtown Disney location). I have been trying/hoping for weeks to be able to switch our BOG dinner reservation to lunch because we like the menu better (dd and I are picky eaters). A table opened up today at 12:20 so I quickly took it hoping that we can make this work. Is it possible with this time frame or is it a no way this will work?

I would say try to push out your BBB appointment or try the one at the castle. I haven't eaten at BOG but logistically I don't see you guys eating then racing to DTD to make that appointment. Even QS meals may take time even if you preorder. IMO try getting a BBB at the castle for around the same time you have you current BBB appointment.

BBB at the castle would be my top choice but they didn't have any appointments available. I will try calling again and see if something has opened up. However, I have 2 girls so the chance of 2 spots opening up is probably slim. :(

I wouldn't even attempt it. You'll never make it. Dinner has much better ambiance than lunch anyway. Don't let the wording on the menu put you off - it's really very basic food at dinner, when you strip it down.

That is what I was afraid of. I just called BBB and there wasn't any spots open at the castle and I couldn't change the time downtown.

Keep trying. Something has to move if you want to do both.

How are you planning to get to DTD? Right now it's really a mess. The parking structure is a long way from BBB. We waited almost 40 minutes for a boat from our resort (POR).

There's no predictably quick way into DTD right now.

I really doubt you can make both of those times...DTD is a traffic nightmare right now and you most likely will not be able to enjoy the sights of BOG. Keep checking BBB at the castle. Many people make 2 appts and then cancel one of them at a later date.

Sadly I don't think that's going to work, OP. I was there about a week and a half ago for lunch and even after we checked in we had a 5-10 minute wait to order our food, then a bit of a wait to get it, and then actually eat it. By the time you're done, even if you run for it, I don't think you'd make it. The bus situation has been bad (though we didn't experience the crazy traffic as reported - we got lucky I believe) and we waited the longest for that bus out of all of them, the entire trip. Also, when we got to DTD, it was such a mass of people it was hard to get anywhere fast, although we did go at night.

If by any chance you can move BOG to dinner, I would. I agree the ambiance is much better and I liked the food more, and it wasn't too fancy-schmancy I thought. Also you get to meet Beast! The only thing is you can't pick what room you're sat in, but overall out of all the times I've gone there, I preferred dinner more.

IMO you'll be done eating and out of BOG by 1:00 if you get seated right away, walking to the entranceway of MK will take you about 5-10 minutes more depending on pace/how fast you walk (if there's a parade going on, that'll be another problem.) By the time you walk to Contemporary because I'm not sure there's a bus that goes from MK to DTD, you're now at about 1:20-1:25 again depending on pace/how fast you walk. The wait for DTD bus and on the bus, and your already at around 1:40 with the bus just pulling away or still waiting at the Contemporary.

If it were me, I would choose BBB and enjoy a lunch at a DTD location or maybe try for a late lunch/dinner at CRT or even BOG. Good luck!

That is not going to work. There are no buses from MK to DtD and if you have a car, it will take far to long to get to the parking lot, drive over and get parked again.

It sounds unanimous that dinner is better than lunch at BOG so I will just stick with our dinner reservation. I didn't realize that the Beast was only at dinner. My youngest dd (3 years old) recently told me that she needs to tell the Beast something. I asked her what she needed to tell him and she replied "that I love him." So it sounds like dinner would probably be best.

One more question. How long does BBB take? My dinner reservation for BOG is at 4:10. I am going to keep checking for something later to open up but worst case scenario I am stuck with 4:10 will that be difficult to make?

This is our first trip to WDW and I didn't realize how everything worked for ADR's so booking our trip in April has meant that I have to take what I can get as it becomes available.

BBB takes about an hour
Something to note, unless it's changed with all the construction, they do have a Princess Parade at DTD (something not done at Castle location) and the girls all get to ride the carousel after walking from BBB. It's really cute but I'm not sure they time they do it. You may miss that with the 4:00 ADR at MK.

If you find you are crunched for time and want to take a taxi from DTD to MK word of advice, take the taxi to Contemporary Resort, NOT MK. Tell the Taxi driver to let you in the parking lot on the left side just after you pass through the guard shack. This puts you out right near the pathway to the MK and will be the fastest way back to the park. Do not tell the taxi you want to go to MK. They can only drive you to the TTC and you are then left either taking the monorail or the ferry across. If you are crunched for time it will take a lot longer.

The others are correct, it is not going to happen. Probably the fastest way would be to take a bus to Saratoga Springs and then walk to Downtown Disney- but with all the construction, I'm not even sure of the status of the walking paths. I think Saratoga also has a boat and a bus, but I'm not sure how much time that will add. You can walk to the Contemporary and take the bus to Downtown Disney, but be aware that after leaving the Contemporary that bus typically stops at the Poly and then the GF before going to Downtown Disney. It has taken us over 30 minutes to get to DTD from the Poly with the stop at the GF- so it could be even longer from the Contemporary, and that is not counting the time you have to wait for the bus, or to walk there. You could walk over to CR and take a taxi, but that is going to cost you. You could take a boat to the GF and grab a bus- at least you would be the last stop before DTD- we have waited 30 minutes for DTD buses at the GF though more than once- not that it would probably be any better at the Contemporary. Also, BOG is in the back of the park though, so it is going to take some time just to get from there to the front of MK. We quit going to DTD altogether, because it always seemed like it took forever to get there and back. You would need to be leaving MK about 12:20- the time of your reservation, to be sure you were going to make it over to DTD in time for the appointment.

I would keep trying every day to get your BBB moved to MK. If your DD doesn't know about it, or if it isn't her top priority, even if you can't get an MK appointment, I would cancel the DTD appointment if it is on your MK day. You are going to lose way too much MK time out of your day going back and forth.

It takes about an hour sitting in the chair BUT at least the one at MK tends to get backed up and you can be sitting there for about 15-20 minutes waiting your turn.

Keep checking, even check day prior. People do cancel!

I don't like that BBB is right in the middle of the day and is eating up a lot of time. Unfortunately it was the only time that I could get. :( Dd is very excited about it so at this point I don't feel I can skip it. However, since I realized that it was going to take up a lot of valuable time we altered our trip a bit so we can go back to the MK a few days later (next Monday). I don't have any ADR's on this date so we are free to roam the park all day without being on a scheduled (other than FP+).

It may be rare, but last year as a total after thought the day before we flew down, I called to see if they had a BBB at MK and they did. An 8:30 a.m. on top of it. Thats why I say dont give up hope. =)
