I usually like to laugh about nearly everything, but I can be a tight *** about things that make fun of Disney. But with this, I'm not even sure if they're trying to make fun of Disney or the people who complain about Disney. I just don't find the humor at all. Maybe it's because I've heard it all before. It's weird; most of the Onion stuff I've read has been pretty clever.

p.s. sorry if this has been posted. i haven't really been reading all the topic headings

It doesn't sound to me like they're trying to be funny. It sounds to me like they just wanted to complain about everything.

i thought it was funny :teeth:

hi jen!!!!

It's not one of the better Onion satires (for those unaware, The Onion is a humor/satire magazine).

This is satire (something that I am very familar with). The Onion is a satire site and a very funny one. In fact a Chinese newspaper used an Onion story as the basis for a report about Congress threathening to leave DC for a better ballpark or building.

I personally found this article somewhat funny but not up to normal Onion standards.

I've seen better articles from the Onion...

Suzanne
(like the one about the suicide hotline, that was a classic)

i found parts of it funny, but i agree that it is not up to the usual onion standards.

Thought it was kind of amusing, the humor was VERY dry.

I have never heard of The Onion before. Now I've been to madonion.com (now futuremark.com) completely different place though.

As I read the column I quickly figured this had to be in some way sarcastic. There's no way someone could go to WDW and come away with this opinion completely. I do admit some things are pricey but what can't be.

Funny? I didn't laugh. But, I don't read the tabloids either.
Amusing? Perhaps.

I don't know what these folks were expecting, but if they wanted to "walk in the park" to "stop and smell the flowers" without ropes, they should have gone to their neighborhood park!

If they thought it was expensive at WDW now, imagine how expensive it would have to be if WDW let everyone just "romp" all over their landscaped areas and had to pay more for the upkeep...;)

You just can't please everyone. I feel badly for these kids, as I think they would have a totally different viewpoint if they werent' so "influenced" by their parents' opinions. ;)

As others have stated, it's meant to be funny, as are all the articles in The Onion. It's not real.
It didn't seem as funny as most of the articles in there though.

It's not real. It is satire.

I thought it was funny. I think it was just as much making fun of people who cannot have fun even in the "happiest of places" as it was making fun of the Disney parks.

Thanks, Toby's Friend. That's exactly what I was wondering.

I agree with others that it's not up to Onion standards. I was just wondering if other Disney fans would find it as un-funny as I did.

As for some other posters here, I never cease to be amazed!

For those who are informing me that it's not real.... DUH! What in my post could possibly make you think I thought it was real? I asked if it was funny and asked who they were making fun of-- Disney or the complainers? "Funny"... "making fun"... "clever"... not really implying that I'm taking it seriously! (I realize that at least one poster here did take it seriously and that other posters were replying to that person; I'm referring here to the people who replied to me directly.)

OK, I see that a lot of people didn't think this was funny, but I thought it was histerical. My guess is that you have to be a Cast Member to truly understand.

Hmmm, I used to be a cast member. I would think maybe that's why I DIDN'T find it funny because I have actually seriously heard many of those complaints before (and got into a few heated arguments that sounded like they would come from the family in the article). Now do you think it's funny due to making fun of the guests? or WDW itself? I find the satire on the guests to be more humorous, but it's just not clear to me what the author's intent is. And if they're really making fun of Disney's rules, well then it's just stupid.
