Is this dining quote correct??

After reading all the great information on the dining plan, I went to the Walt Disney World site where I booked my vacation and priced it for my family of 4. Me, Dh, DS (12) DS(10). For the basic plan it came to about $152 per day for the four of us, for deluxe it came to $279.96 per day. Could this be correct or did I do something wrong? It actually says save up to 30% with disney dining plan, do they mean I am saving 30% if I were to pay oop for all the meals included in their plan or is this price 30% cheaper than the normal dining plan price?

I think it is correct. Each adult (which all of you are considered in disney terms) is 38.00 a day. And I believe the savings is if you paid for the meals oop.

This might not be an exact answer to your question, but it's something I've learned about the dining plan.

The best way to figure out the true value to your family is to go through the menus online (wdwinfo.com has them, as does allears.net), figure out what restaurants you would like to try, figure out what foods you and the rest of your family might eat. Take those amounts, add tax, and compare it to the total cost of the dining plan. Also remember what foods are and aren't allowed on the dining plan (no appetizers, for example), so you can see what you would have to pay out of pocket for.

Your numbers are right.

The dining plan CAN save you UP TO 30% on your dining. Doesn't mean it WILL.

If your kids eat a fair amount of food it is probably worth it - if they eat like birds or prefer counter service then probably not such a good deal.
