When you child swap at WDW, don't they give you a little colored cardboard ticket to show the loading CM?
You actually just proved my point...and also proved that the two are very similar. You said on the child swap it involves a child riding twice. But that child at most is only going through a fast pass line...therefore bypassing all the others who have been waiting in line. In the situation mentioned by the OP, the child rides twice bypassing those who have been waiting in line...but going to someone who actually has waited in line. Not entirely different IMO.BillSears said:The child swap and this are very different.
Child swap is 4 people waiting in line. 2 parents, 1 child who will not ride and 1 child who rides twice. Total number of people waiting is 4 and total number of rides riden is 4.
This swap is 3 people waiting in line. 2 parents and 1 child who only goes through the line once. Total number of people waiting is 3 and total number of rides is 4.
Since the child is bypassing all of those in line ahead of him so they can join the second parent I'd say it's wrong and cutting in line.

. If I were in line and saw this happening and the mother handed a little 2,3,4 year old over to the dad, it wouldn't bother me at all
I think it would bother me if the child were 5 and older, because then it is starting to teach them a bit of a negative lesson. In the end, I probably wouldn't even notice it happening because I am so busy keeping my kids busy in line that I don't notice much of what's going on around me

I don't agree with this for my almost 3 year old. She's not going to realize that any rules are being bent.
So, I'm a little torn on how I feel. If I were in line and saw this happening and the mother handed a little 2,3,4 year old over to the dad, it wouldn't bother me at all

So you only care depending on the age of the child? What if the 5 y/o looked like he was 7? I don't understand?
I do see how this is even an issue. Lets talk about something more exciting, like pool hopping. If the parent waited in line and is not affecting the people behind them by taking up another vehicle whats the problem? Does Disney have a rule that says you can't do this? I know anyone can say "yes they have a rule" but I challenge you to find it. Parent swapping isn't much different other than the other parent gets to sit in comfort instead of inline and you have to have one child that isn't big enough to ride any given ride. Actually parent swap in more disruptive to the line, since more people can use 1 swap ticket and indeed to take up more ride space. Anyway, I'm sure the ride police will flame me, but if you don't like it...don't do it.
On a side note, can I fit 3 people in a dumbo car? Can I do this with 2 kids??

Or my dh has gotten in line while I take the kiddos for a bathroom break/diaper change.
Or I've gotten in line with the kids while dh goes to get a snack/beverage for the rest of us.

If it saves everyone else from having to wait in line with squirming, screaming kids, doesn't it greatly increase everyone's enjoyment of the park?
RIDE ANOTHER RIDE!!!!
)Well, now, in my opinion - if there are fewer members of a party waiting in line than there are catching up with them, that's line cutting.thunderbird1 said:Well, then we must be real rebels, because I've occasionally even gotten in line without my entire family, and had the rest join me later. When the kid can't be lifted comfortably, it's definitely time to give up the procedure

no kidding, my SIL comes down from MA ( or use to ) once a year to go to Disney and they just HAD to do Dumbo.... no way no how will I stand in lne for a CARNIVAL type ride. Even my 5 year old just walks by it ith out even asking to go on it.Cmbar said:Can someone explain to me KID Swap? I have this idea that family waits in line, Get to the front and says "kid swap" Then DAD and OLder kid ride. Then Dad gets off and MOM and Older kid ride. Is this correct? If so, when did Older kid get back in the line behind all the people and wait "the appopriately longer wait time" to ride the ride? Never done it, but may try it with a three year old next time!
