Okay, I need opinions, please! My daughter is dancing at Magic Kingdom in the parade this summer with her dance studio. We are flying in and staying at Boardwalk for two nights prior to her having to stay with her studio at the swan. We will be at the swan for three nights. After the stay at the swan, we have 4 nights booked at Jambo with a savannah view. We plan to really relax and explore the resort. Then we have 3 nights at BLT in a lake view room. I figured we could come and go at MK and just do whatever. We are annual pass holders and travel to WDW often so nothing is a "must do". We have resort hopped before but only one or two nights on the front end of a long vacation. Does this seem like a crazy plan?? Other details.....the travel party will be me, my mother, my daughter (10) and my son ( 12). We are light packers and do not go commando. Often, we spend time in the parks in the morning, afternoons at the pool and have a nice dinner somewhere maybe catching fireworks if it works out. My son felt that spending the whole week at AK Jambo was too long so we split that stay up with BLT. I have looked at this so long I can no longer think...lol.

I love split stays, so I'm partial to them :-) I would be really excited to have a few days where I could walk to MK, EP, and HS... and then some days at AKL, which I love! Disney makes luggage transfer so easy, and if you don't need access to your luggage or to the room (e.g., for naps) on the transfer days, than I think you're fine. I feel like 3 nights gives you two full resort days where you don't have to worry about moving. Have fun!!

As light packers you should be good. We did a split stay at VGF and BCV last April and we did not love the experience. We had to wait until 5 PM to get our room and with an 8 year old and a 4 year old they were just plain exhausted by the time we got in our room. Seeing as your kids are little older it may be more of an adventure.
