Is this correct?

My husband and I are going to join DVC....Let's say I buy 300 pts.....what if I need 450 and want to bring my parents or sister's family? Could I rent points from someone on here and add it to my points to get a grand villa? If I did that, would they be able to stay with us and just have to purchase their tickets to the parks?

Your member guide can fill you in on all of your questions before you buy.

If you bought 300 points, you are allowed to use that many points each year. You can bank points into the next year or borrow points in the current year from the next year. If you still didn't have enough points, you could rent them from another DVC member and have them transferred into you member account for you to use.

Anyone can stay with you at the resort up to the maximum capacity of the room. You can also make reservations for other people when you are not going to be there. Your points pay for the accomodations.

Make sure you get all the answers you are looking for before you buy. I know out guide was wonderful that way. He made sure we had a check list to go over with all the details like that.

If you still need to rent points, just post and anyone will help you out.

We have been exploring how to take a Disney cruise with our points!!! Just spent an hour watching every piece of the Cruise planing DVD!

Congratulations on finding this wonderful board! If you are like me, you will ask all the questions and then, later on, you will wonder if you got it right or you think of more questions. Even DVC veterans occasionally have unique circumstances and post questions here. And these boards are 24/7, so you don't have to lie awake wondering. Good luck on your decision making. I know it was a little unsettling for us at initial purchase, but here we are 4 add-ons later and loving it!

DVC 101 lesson -- Before you actually start making plans to do that, go over to the DVC Community Board and read all the heartache others have experienced bringing friends and relatives into the picture! Before you do that, TinkABoutIt!

Yes, you sure could if banking (first choice) and borrowing (second, and more problematic, choice) did not provide enough points. OR...you could have THEM rent THEIR points for the same price you'll pay -- which would still give them a wonderful vacation for a bargain price, and would get you out of a situation that turns out bad on a very regular basis around here.
