I bought in 250 at SS, which starts from August 2004. Can I bank those points until Jan 2005 then borrow my points for 2005 so that I have 500 points for our January 2005 trip ?

You may be confusing use year with calendar year. It looks like you're saying you have an August use year. Therefore your August 2004 year is Aug 1, 2004 through July 31, 2005. You would not bank those points at all.

You can borrow 2005 points (points to be received Aug 1, 2005) into 2004. You would have 500 points available for Jan 2005.

Make yourself a use year chart for your use year month.

Use Year.......Vacation Dates
2004....Aug 1, 2004 through July 31, 2005
2005....Aug 1, 2005 through July 31, 2006
2006....Aug 1, 2006 through July 31, 2007
2007....Aug 1, 2007 through July 31, 2008
2008....Aug 1, 2008 through July 31, 2009

etc.

You can bank points from any one use year into the following year. You can borrow points from any year into the preceeding year.

Your Jan 2005 vacation dates are in your 2004 use year. You can use your regular 2004 points and borrow any 2005 points.

Remember, you can only borrow points at the time you actually reserve a vacation, and then you may only borrow the number of points actually required to complete the reservation.

For Jan 2005, you can make your reservation 11-months to the check-out date of your vacation for your home resort (so that would be in Feb 2004) and you can make reservations at a non-home resort at 7-months (so that would be June 2004).

Hope this helps.

Are you sure your use year is August? I thought the use year they were selling now was December. The August 2004 may be the date your unit is slated for completion and is the earliest you can make a ressie for. I bought at SSR a few weeks ago, Dec use year with 1st available stay in May. My guide said soon contracts would switch to June, etc. as they sold more.
