Is this correct for a morning breakfast at GCH or DTD?

If I choose a hotel on Harbor Blvd and make breakfast reservations at GCH or DTD, I would need to go around DCA? (ie, south on Harbor, west along Katella and north on Disneyland)

Or would the CMs at the main entrance be able to confirm my reservation and let us go straight through both security check stations to GCH and/or past GCH to DTD?

Hmm, and by extension once a park closes (say 8 pm) and we wander over to DTD for a couple of hours, would we be going "around" DCA via Katella or allowed to walk from one security check station through the other back to Harbor?

I would cut through the Esplanade to get to DTD or CGH, not walk around. You have to go through the bag/security checkpoint, but you can cross over to DTD without entering either of the parks. They do not check for tickets or reservations at the security checkpoints into DTD or the Esplanade...any one can come and go. If you have an GCH restaurant reservation you can go in the front door of the Grand with a reservation but that would be a hike.

What we know about access:

-GCH Front Door Entrance from Valet/Street: Restricted to GCH Guests and confirmed Hotel Restaurant Reservation Holders only. No more walking through Grand for non GCH/restaurant guests.
-GCH to DTD Entrance/ext: No changes except addition of two metal detectors. Anyone can still come or go freely, guests or not.
-GCH to DCA Entrance: GCH room keys required before 11am. PPH, DLR and non GCH guests must use main gates before 11am to enter DCA. After 11am they are letting all through as usual. Policy is that it is only for GCH guests, practice is that they stop enforcing that at 11am. (but you can not still come in through the front door of the GCH)
-DCA to GCH Exit: open to all, guests or not.

So if you are in the Parks or DTD, nothing has changed in regard to Grand access.

Thanks for the reply ParkHopper. I don't know what the Esplanade is though. Is it this red paved area between the parks?

Exactly. The Main Gates to Disneyland Park are at the top of the red bricks, the entrance to DCA is at the bottom of the red bricks, DTD is to the left of the red bricks and if you are staying on Harbor you would enter from the right of the Esplanade. The green tents on the right are the security check points. Once you go through those you can move freely to DTD, the GCH and the park entrances. The checkpoint on the left side of the pic have been removed and you can now move freely between DTD and the Esplanade without having to go through security again. You do have to go though a checkpoint if you exit and re-eneter the Grand from DTD.

It is not like an airport where you need a boarding pass to get through security. It is open to all the public then they will check for your park tickets at the DL & DCA main gates if you are heading into the parks.

Great! That's what I was hoping. I just didn't know the terminology of the area I was trying to describe. (wry grin)

So the green tents are the security check points. What are the 4 triangle shaped items on either end just past the security check points?

Ticket booths if you need to purchase tickets or APs before heading into park. If not, you walk right by them.
