Is this correct about borrowing points?

I think I understand this, but just want to be sure:

I own 150 points SSR, June use year.

I have 9 points remaining in my 2006 allotment.

We want to go to SSR for Easter Break, and it takes 85 pts. for a studio. (There are plenty available.) Thus, I would ask MS to use my 9 points from 2006 first, then borrow 76 points from 2007, leaving 74 points in my 2007 account.

Here is the bugaboo - airfare is ridiculous. If I wait, and airfare never comes down, we cancel the vacation (at least 31 days prior). However, since I have borrowed those points into my 2006 year, they would expire on 5/31/06.
Is that correct? The 9 points could still be banked (if I would cancel early enough), but the borrowed 76 points become 2006 points - correct?

Decisions, decisions.

Yep, you've got it all correct.

You could bank the 9 points anytime before Mar 31st which is the close of your June 25% banking window, so if you cancel, you'll want to do it before then if you want to still be able to bank points. If you wait till April/May before cancelling, then the 9 points would not be bankable.

The borrowed points would expire May 31, 2007 (the last day of your 2006 use year. You said 5/31/06 by mistake... ;) ), so you would either need to use them before that for something else, or you'd lose them.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Sorry about the 06/07 mix-up. Sometimes trying to keep it straight confuses me even more.

(When I tell the kids they are driving me crazy, DH replies that it's a short trip!)
