My DD's b-day is mid Nov. and my DS's is mid Dec. so we planned our upcoming WDW vacation for Nov. 27 thru Dec. 4 to partly celebrate both. Also we chose those times because we heard it was less crowded but you still get to see all the decorations. :) Anyways... can I get them one of those birthday buttons to wear since it's a b-day trip even though it's not on their actual b-day? I just think they'd like it, that is if DS isn't too cool :cool2: to wear it.

go for it. it will be a little late for one and early for the other. we did it last year and DD4 loved it. i may do it this year cause my Bday will be less then 1 month after we leave WDW.

Off topic od the question but still... ha

We went to Disneyland last christmas and had my mother wear a birthday button. EVERYONE was saying things like aww christmas baby and your birthday is really on christmas?! IT WAS GREAT, she was so embarrased at first but then just got used to it. All the ride operators that have to give a spiel like the Jungle Cruise kept making jokes about it and everything. It was a good time.

But sure do it! :)

Where do you get a birthday button? We're going in 12 days and the trip is part of my son's birthday present, even though his birthday isn't until November 23rd.

You can get the buttons at the guest service area in any park. Occasionally servers in restaurants will have them too but it is not guarenteed. They don't check any ID so you can tell them that you need a button and they will gladly give you one.

With the number of people they see/help each day, you could probably go back to the same place each day of your trip and get a button and they wouldn't remember.

:earsboy: Get the buttons and have a great time. Disney doesn't ask for proof of birthdays. My DD birthday was in the middle of our trip in Dec. We got her the buttons from every park and she wore one everyday of our trip. The CM's would wish her Happy Birthday and even the characters in the parades would wave and say it too. Her birthday was on Wed. during our trip and on the other days when people wished her a Happy Birthday I would tell them it was Wed, and every CM said "It's always your birthday at Disney, so enjoy!"
They don't care if it esn't the exact date.
Some people on here will tell you you should only get the buttons if you are there on the EXACT date, but I say get them anyway! Most people can't plan it to be there on their kids birthday, and if you have more than one kid the others will feel left out. You are going when their birthdays are close together, so do it. If it was six months away, that would be a different story, but since they are so close I see no problem. Like I said, go and have a great time!! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Here's another one - my birthday is Nov. 2nd and my son has arranged a birthday trip to WDW for myself, my son and nephew as a birthday present, but we do not arrive until Nov. 25th because that was the only time that he could get off from work. Do I get a button or just forget it?

Disneyholics5 I would get one if I were you - since it is your Birthday trip. We took my niece last year and it wasn't on her actual b-day. Everyone treated her like a Princess!!

I got the birthday buttons when we were there last December. My birthday is on Christmas Day, but we were at WDW earlier in the month. I wore birthday buttons every day and got lots of greetings from CM's. I did have one CM ask me if it was actually my birthday that day, and I told him that my actual birthday is on Christmas, so I figure I can celebrate all month long. He didn't say anything more about it. Also got several special desserts at various restaurants. It was a lot of fun to do, and they never ask for proof that it is your birthday. Have fun with it everyone! ::MinnieMo

With all the time and money we've spent over the years at WDW, I guess I don't have a big problem with getting a couple small freebies! Actually now that I think about it, I didn't get "free" dessert. I had dessert coming at both of the restaurants anyway. I was just allowed something a little different from what I would have normally received. ::MinnieMo

With a Christmas Day birthday, I never get to celebrate in public...that's a day we spend at home with family. I don't see the harm in a little bit of public celebration. ::MinnieMo

Both of our last trips we celebrated a birthday on a different day. When my daughter was 3 her godfather was working in Disney College Program. He didn't see her on her birthday so when we went a few months later he got her a button and took her out to eat to celebrate.

We went a week late for my husbands birthday to fit in school break and he got his button and clebrated. He loved all the attention from the Princesses and even got a few cheek kisses from them! :love1:

missminniemouse,

You should have rented a wheelchair and got front of the line access for your entire trip as well! ;)

Because of people doing that there is no front of line access for wheelchairs. wheelchairs have to go throught the same lines as everyone else, no special treatment what so ever.

And once again, I will be the voice for the minority here. I've already been down this road but will travel it once more. My birthday is in July...if I decide to celebrate it in Aug I don't get a birthday button. I can't see the sense in people wishing me a 'happy birthday' since my birthday was the previous month. Yes, no big deal if you want to plan a trip for a time other than the actual date, but I, personnally, don't like to wear a button that proclaims that particular day to be my birthday. I guess I could go get some Bride and Groom mouse ears since I was a bride at one time...yes, I know..a little facetious..sorry. Have a 'private' celebration, get a special cake, get balloons...whatever makes you happy. I just don't agree with wearing that button unless it is the actual day. Flame away.

Sorry, I have to go a little against the grain here.

I don't care what anyone else does, but for me personally, it may not exactly feel like "cheating" (after all, you're not really getting anything much out of it), but it does feel like lying to wear a button that says "today is my birthday", when "today" isn't really my birthday. But that's me. Everyone should do what they feel comfortable with. Meaning, if I were you I'd let my kids decide whether they think it's right to wear it or not.

We were there a couple of weeks ago, and dd got the birthday button on her birthday, wore it the one day, and then took it off her pin lanyard the next day. She also refused to join with all the birthday folks when they were called up on stage at the Spirit of Aloha dinner show, because it wasn't her birthday yet, even though they had invited everyone with a birthday in that month, and hers was the very next day, albeit the next month. Those are my dd's standards and I'm not going to push her to do something she doesn't feel right about.

In fact, that reminds me of a girl we saw in the elevator wearing a birthday button the day after my dd's birthday. I said something about yesterday having my my dd's birthday and the little girl started saying that hers was in a couple of weeks, but her mom or grandma (not sure) cut her off and said "yes, today is her birthday!" The girl looked really embarrassed.

So anyway, just trying to say, offer it to them if you want, but don't insist if they aren't comfortable with it.

Can you get them if your birthday is 3 weeks away? We'll be there on Nov 24-30th and my bd is Dec 18th? This trip is my present, party and everything

mommaU4,

I say do what feels right for your family. If you want to celebrate your kids birthday together in WDW with the Birthday buttons, than go ahead, have a great time!! :bday: :bday:

Hmmm, just a tad bit of a difference, wouldn't you say? :rolleyes1

Hey, all you flamers. Build a bridge and get over yourself!!

If it makes you happy to celebrate your birthday at the "World" even though your travel plans couldn't get you there on your actual birthday - do it and have a ball! Remember Walt's vision for Disneyland/Walt Disney World? "To make people happy".

No where is it written in stone that one MUST celebrate their birthday only on their birthday. Otherwise, get a magic marker, write "Un-" before the word Birthday and celebrate your "Un-Birthday".

It's a matter of personal choice. Each person has their own personal "cut-off". For some it's that day and no other. For others they have no problem celebrating it 2, 3, 4, 5, or even 6 weeks away. Some might say 6 weeks is a bit drastic. To me there is no difference from 6 weeks to 2 weeks. That is why it's a personal decision.

As for answering the question cheating covers a lot of things. If you are hoping to get special treatment. Well, a birthday happens one day a year- so celebrating for 7 days that are not it- there's your answer.
