Is this brilliant or just wishful thinking (driving to All Star bus stop)?

Have decided to give All Stars a try. I was looking at the map of the buildings, and considering that noise level is one thing people seem to dislike about All Stars, I was thinking of requesting a room all the way in the back. Of course, this would mean being farther from the bus stop. But here's my possibly brilliant idea -- could we drive from our building to the bus stop? We will have the car anyway, and it looks, from the map anyway, that we could park the car close to our building and then drive up to the main building and leave the car there for the day, and then drive back to the room at night.

Would this work?

I have to tell you, sometimes it's hard to find a parking spot at the "Check-in parking lot." It's always packed! It's probably some guests never moved their car since they checked-in.

Try staying at Buzz/Woody or Dalmation but facing away from the courtyard. Asked to be faced towards the "quiet" yard or the parking lot. You shouldn't have any problems with the noise. Also, ask for the highest floor so you will not get foot traffic.

The walk from your room to the car would probably be just as far as the walk from your room to the bus stop. ;)

The All Star looks spread out but it really isn't. I stayed on the back side of All Star Sports in the baseball section facing the parking lot. We had no noise problems at all. The walk to the bus stop was nothing....We have stayed in All Star Movie and found the same thing. We also had a rental car. We used the car to go to the parks when we didn't really feel like waiting for a bus. It really isn't a hassle at all. We used the bus mostly for going to Magic Kingdom because it dropped you right off in the front. Used our car too to go to the water parks. In defense of the noise at the Value resorts...I did find that staying at the AKL by far was the noisiest resort that we ever encountered in staying at any of the values or mod resorts!! Kids running up and down the halls screaming about the animals seemed to never end!! The loud conversations and children hollering started at 6am and went to after 1am!! :earseek:

We have stayed in nearly every building at All-Star sports, and really, it is a very quick walk to the bus stop from nearly everywhere. Usually, it was further to our car than to the bus stop. I am not sure how feasible it would be to park in the front lot all day--every time we have arrived it was nearly full, and we had to get lucky to get very close to the building at all. The lot is very small compared to the rest of the parking areas.

The first time we went to Disney we stayed at All Star Music, we did drive to the front everyday because we were so far back. The walk was too far at the end of the day. We never had any trouble getting a spot close to the busses.

If you are staying at Movies, request the Mighty Ducks bldg. It is towards the back and pretty quiet (facing away from the pool) and you only have a short walk to the bus stop at All Star Music.

The walk to Movies' bus stop wasn't all that bad, either but Music was definately closer for us. It was great to have two different bus options- usually the busses for movies had longer lines so we just hopped onto the Music bus and had no problems.

Have a great trip!

:)

We have stayed at all stars dozens of times and have never had a noise problem.

The layout of all stars is so excellent, it would take you longer to drive up front and park, than to just walk to the bus stop even if you are in the building furthest back. I am not kidding. All stars have an excellent lay out. Even the buildings furthest back have only a few minute walk to front where all the action is. Pool, food court, check in and bus stops.

Just park you car and relax!

When we stayed at the ASMo our room was way in the back at Mighty Ducks. We discovered that it was a much shorter walk to one of the other *** to their bus stop. I can't picture now which one is right there. But anyway, we just took a little path through the shrubbery (it was an actual path, but not too terribly noticeable), across a driveway and there we were at the other bus stop. We would also sometimes go into there to fill our mugs.

Now, I always rent a car and drive to the parks (I find it much faster and more convenient, but that's just my opinion of course). But, if I was at ASMo again with no car, I'd definitely ask for a room as far back as possible if I couldn't get one up close to the main building.

I am glad I read this before replying. I have too stayed in Homerun Hotel at All Star Sports, facing the parking lot. Our car was always parked close to our room and our room was also a short walk to the Goofy pool. We were even on the first floor (not usually my 1st choice) and found it to be fine. Also we drove our car to the parks, but I would also recommend using the bus for MK convenience.

If you have a car, you would be better off driving to the parks. The bus service at All Stars was beyond horrible. I will never stay there again or at any other value because of this. Last week I was at all stars for 2 night at the end of my trip. The MK closed at 10pm I was at the bus stop at 9:20. The lines for each all star resort were full and about 20 yards past the coral. It took my 1.5 hours just to get a bus.

When we stayed in a far back building we did this everyday and it was the most convenient way to get two small kids, two grandparents and two parents up front.
