Is this bad manners?

I am a new mom making a Disney trip this month.

I will be taking my 6 month old to the parks with us.

While I am waiting with her while others ride a ride, would it be bad manners for me to change her diaper in the stroller? Our stroller reclines, and ahe is wearing dresses the whole time, so I would just put the clean diaper over the wet one, remove the wet one, wipe her off, and dispose of the wet diaper into either a baggie in our diaper bag or a trash can. I would only do this with wet diapers, of course.

This has never come up in real life because we just never take her somewhere that we will not be close to a bathroom....but if we are just waiting and not near a bathroom, would that be okay or would you consider it rude? I want to keep her changed very often so she doesn't get a heat rash.

I really don't know if it is okay or not..............would you mind sharing your opinions?

nope not at all
Seen it at the mall, parks etc

I would suggest changing her before you get in line.

eta: The lines move fairly quickly. Unless you are waiting for a show, you are moving much of the time.

She's not in line. She's waiting outside with the baby.

And no, it's not rude. What's rude is if you leave the dirty diaper on the ground/in the bush/on the bench. :)

I would not change my child anywhere but a restroom. You just never know when she will go, and you certainly don't want her going in the stroller.

Also you just never know if some sicko is looking. Besides restrooms are not hard to come by in the World.

i would think it would be a bad idea to do that in line becos the people around you are also stuck in line, close together, and can't get away. there are bathrooms all over the place at WDW, i'm sure you'll find them easily accessible.

EDIT: Oops, I just read the above post where it said that you didn't mean changing the child while standing in line. Nevermind!

Geesh! Brain dead sorry! I couldn't see how she could move and do that! Sorry OP! Change away! And have a great time!

I doubt I'd even notice if you were off to the side somewhere...

Have a fun trip!

I don't see a problem with it....I see people doing it all the time, and as Oogie said...as long as you throw the diaper away ( I know you will!) all is good! :)

BTW - I am sure the stroller is MUCH MORE sanitary than a changing board at WDW. At 6 months old....she might pick something up very easily from a "dirty" changing station.

Try to find some cover if you can :) There are always some sensationalists, even in Disney, who may have a go at you and so on.

a very good point.

but i can't saw I haven't see plenty of nekkid baby bums/hoo-hoo's and ha-ha's...some moms like to drop kids trou just about anywhere.

heck - even witnessed it on the Safari ride at AK...kudos to that mom for changing the kid and holding onto the camera

Yeah, I was just worried about proximity of RR and changing her where tons of other kids have been changed. I have a pad for her........but still.

The way I change her, even if she goes midchange, she is covered. There is very little exposed at all---------but how sad we even have to think about the sickos!

I wouldn't care. I agree about the changing table. To many germs. I use to bring sanitizers wipes and wipe it down first. Do as you please. Its a baby most who go to WDW have kids and don't mind.

It wouldn't bother me however; I was approached by a cm when I was changing my dd in DTD a few years ago. We were off the beaten path w/ no one near us. She directed me to the nearest restroom saying that diaper changes should be made only in the restrooms or baby care stations and not outside.

Exactly. ::yes::

As someone without kids and probably far less understanding of these situations, it wouldn't bother me in the least. Now if I was sitting next to you on the bench, just give me some warning so I know to hold my breath or take cover. :rotfl:

Nope, don´t find it rude at all. I did it all the time when youngest DD was still using diapers.

All three trips I have taken with DD (now 19 months) if I wasn't near a baby care center I did it in the stroller. I am pretty short and had a hard time with most of the changing areas in the restrooms. In many of the restrooms the changing area was a high shelf like area. I loved the baby care centers and used them often but if we weren't near one I just tried to find a private area and did it in the stroller. The few times she had a stinky one and we weren't near a baby center DH took her in the mens room and did it. Have fun!

As long as its not where people are eating!! I was in a family restaurant the other week that has a kids play area and a mother decided to change a poopy nappy at the table opposite us:rolleyes:  :crazy2:
