Is this an insane idea?

I apologize. I feel like I ask too many questions. I swear I Google this stuff and do a search here before posting threads, but I'm never completely satisfied. I like up-to-date Diser advice! :)

Four questions:
1. Is it completely insane/impossible to want to head to MK after Star Wars fireworks at 9:15? The only thing I want to do in MK is be there when it's closing and see the "Kiss Goodnight." We'll have been there and done everything earlier in the trip, but I've had it in my mind that the very last thing I want to do in the parks is see/hear that "Kiss Goodnight." Am I insane?

2. Assuming I'm going to try it whether it's insane or not, would it be fastest to take a bus from HS to the Contemporary and then walk over to MK? Or bus from HS to TTC and monorail to MK?

3. About what time can I reasonably expect to arrive at MK if I choose the most direct (free...no taxis) route?

4. Is there a cut-off time that they'll allow guests to enter a park as it nears closing time?

1. If that's what you want, go for it!
(Would I do it? Nope.) ;)
EDIT: Now that you tell me MK will be open until Midnight, it's not a far-fetched idea at all.
I'd do it, and have done similar in the past. (But I would not make a trip JUST to see "Kiss Goodnight.")

2. The bus from DHS does not go to TTC. It lets you out at the MK gates. (Yes, that's correct.)

3. About 9:50pm, give or take.

4. No cut-off time.

Oh, hot diggity! I didn't know that bus would go right to the MK gate! That's awesome. I wonder if that will be a crowded bus? Do you think others will be wanting to do the same thing? Should I expect there to be an MK bus waiting when we walk out of HS?
Man! We might catch the MSEP!
Thanks, Robo!

1. I'd not expect so.
2. See "Kiss Goodnight?" Highly doubtful.
3. Maybe. Or one pulling in within 15 min. or so.
4. Could be. Good luck with your timing. (Timing is EVERYTHING at WDW.)

I should mention that "Kiss Goodnight" does NOT take place at "MK Closing Time."
It can be at about 30-45 minutes after MK's closing time.
(And, SOMETIMES, they just don't perform it at all.)

1. Is it completely insane...

Maybe... but sounds like exactly the sort of thing I would do. Though for me it would be for Wishes, and only if had Hoppers already for other reasons.

Thanks for saying this - I will check my own plan for this possibility.

Hmm, that is awesome, Robo - always such good info you have! I am a good researcher, but have had trouble locating just the right listing of which buses go where. Anyone can share their best source for this?

There is "direct" transportation between all the WDW theme parks.
The frequency of departure for each is approximately every 20 minutes, give or take, all day long.

Most routes are via Disney Buses.

Here are the "park-to-park" Disney Transportation direct connections:

MK> Epcot = Monorail to TTC, Switch to 2nd Monorail to Epcot
MK> DHS = Direct Bus
MK> AK= Direct Bus

AK> DHS= Direct Bus
AK> Epcot= Direct Bus
AK> MK= Direct Bus

DHS> MK= Direct Bus
DHS> AK= Direct Bus
DHS> Epcot= Direct Bus (Epcot Front Gate) or Boat (Epcot Intl. Gateway)
......Boats ("Friendships") make 3 interim stops at the Epcot area resorts.

Epcot > MK= Monorail to TTC, Switch to 2nd Monorail to MK
Epcot > AK= Direct Bus
Epcot> DHS= Direct Bus (Epcot Front Gate) or Boat (Epcot Intl. Gateway)
......Boats ("Friendships") make 3 interim stops at the Epcot area resorts.

The buses have their destinations shown on them on illuminated signs.
The bus stops at the parks are also marked with signage.

As a rule-of-thumb, allow 40-60 minutes to get from the gates of one park to the gates of another park.

My son and I just did this on our last trip. He had tons of energy at the end of the day, so we did a lot of late night hopping this trip. One of our favorite memories is hopping over to MK late at night after the Star Wars fireworks. We grabbed an ice cream cone from Main Street, and sat over by the castle and just relaxed. We also were able to get some great photos with very few people in them, and the park is so pretty at night. Have a great time!

Have a great trip!

If that's what you want to do, then go for it!! I would do it! What time do the parks close on the night you are talking about? We've closed EP at 9pm and hopped over to MK on nights when MK is open until 11pm or 12am.

I'd heard that it was usually later than closing. I think I might plan to ride something deep in the park just before closing so that I can mosey slowly toward the front of the park and hang around waiting to see if they do the Kiss. I'm half expecting (hoping, if I'm honest) that this might be a solo adventure for me, since I don't see the folks wanting to stay out that late.

MK closes at midnight!

I like to end my trips in the MK...

But, I'd think about changing up parks before I would really try to make it there that late or just leave earlier from HS?

I don't think it's crazy at all and, if MK is open until midnight, I'd not even hesitate if that's what you want to do.

Perfect timing for your question! I had the mad idea of 4 parks in one day - since we have only one park day for our upcoming mid-March trip. We already have hoppers. Plan to spend the morning at Epcot, hop over to AK at 2pm until a 6:45pm dinner at Yak and Yeti. Then leave about 8pm for DHS, watch the Star Wars fireworks (heard they are worth it). Finally head to MK for late night EMH. It will be crazy, but sounds doable :)

Have done this (or similar) plenty of times. You'll find that a lot of people have the same idea when you roll up to the queue for the MK bus.

On the way out of DHS, take a gander at the queue for the Contemporary bus.

If it is short, we usually head there because we'll be on the next bus that shows up instead of possibly having to wait for a 2nd or 3rd bus like can happen as closing time. Plus with fewer people the loading process is much faster.
It's a little more walking, but the result is that we get to MK sooner.

Question: what rides close before/after the Star Wars fireworks? And approx what time/how long before? We are wondering if we can fit in a ride or two before the fireworks at 9:30pm :) We will be leaving Yak & Yeti about 8pm so it is rather unlikely - but I'd like to be prepared in case we want to give it a shot.

The ride queues (entrances to the rides) close at the posted park closing time (which may or may not relate to the fireworks time.)
