I searched around and couldn't find an answer.. figured there are some experienced sellers here that might know.. I sold an auction for 3 items. I *know* I put all 3 in the box (it was a tight fit, I had to roll them up carefully and it took a couple of tries) The buyer is claiming I only sent 2 and wants a refund. If I issue the refund and they return them, they are only going to return 2. Am I getting scammed? Are they just trying to get something for free? Thing is, it's not a lot of money - just a couple bucks, I can't understand why it would be worth it. :confused3 Anyone heard of anything similar?

It sounds like they just bid to get the one item. If the package was damaged and that one item fell out I would think they would have mentioned it.

If it is only a couple of bucks tell them to return the items and you will do a refund. The way Ebay does it the buyer will have to pay for return shipping - they might not realize that they will still have to pay something to keep that one item.

They might ask for a partial refund - I would not do it. Either they return the items or no refund.

I wouldn't even offer a refund if you know you packed all 3. Make them go through ebay/paypal and see what happens. Don't make it easy on them

This happened to me once before. I sold a lot of 3 of something. They were odd shaped so I had to plan how to pack it and it wasn't easy to package so I KNOW they were all there. They then contacted me to ask if I was sending one separately since they only received 2. We went back and forth a couple times, but I basically said each time, I packaged this myself, it was difficult to pack, so I know they all 3 were there. So unless this package arrived damaged or opened, (neither of which they stated), they were all there. They finally stopped emailing me. I would have let paypal resolve it if it got to that stage. So frustrating!

You need to let them file a dispute with Ebay and when it is time for you to respond select the option to refund after the items have been returned. They BUYER has to pay for return shipping. You do not have to pay for that. They have to also pay for tracking and delivery confirmation because they have to have proof the item was returned before they get the refund. You will lose out on the deal but there is really nothing you can do. I had someone do something like that to me for an item that cost $300. You wanna talk about sick and mad over that. AND you cannot even leave bad feedback for them for ripping you off.

Not that I'm saying the buyer is definetly telling the truth, but I've had this happen to me at least twice. A third time the seller was out of stock on one of the items, and I had to contact them to find out. Regarding the other two- the seller found the item and sent it, and the other I had to fight thru ebay to get a refund for the missing item.

Actually I have had to return items do to wrong disruption or being counterfeit. Both times the sellers Tried to get me to pay for shipping but I refused and got ebay involved, why should the buyer pay for the sellers mistake, ebay agreed with me and I got a full refund

As to your situation if you know and can show proof of how much each item weight and how much the package weight that might be enough for ebay to side on your side
