Is this an allowable carry-on?

We leave early tomorrow morning. Now I'm starting to stress over this. I'm planning on my 6 yr old twins each having a backpack as a "personal item" to carry on to the airplane and then carry on their backless boosters as a "carry on". We'll stash the boosters in the overhead compartments.

Is this ok? I don't have a back-up plan.

I think you can carry them on as a personla item if it will fit in the overhead compartment or below the seat. If not, you may be able to gate check the seats.

Honestly, you need to read the policy of the particular airline you are flying. FWIW, when I checked for normal carseats not too long ago, they did NOT count as luggage, in that you could check them at no charge on the airline I was flying. That said, YMMV with another airline!

If you have the option of checking them or gate checking them, I'd go with the gate check. Yes, it means you will need to lug them through the airport instead of picking them up at baggage claim, but I have checked carseats and had them go missing for over 24 hours. It was really fun to arrive in our destination and have no way of getting the kids safely to where we were staying. NOT! :scared1:

Rather than having the kids wrestle them down the aisle of the plane and try to find room in the overhead I would throw them in a plastic bag and gate check them. You can't use them on the plane anyway and why take up precious overhead space with something that can gate check very easily.

from what I've read they are not considered carry on or check able luggage and with fees being in the 20-30 for checked bags I decided when we go down with dn we will go to target and buy a booster for 20 and call it a wash I'll probably leave it at shades of green so they can lend it out to military families after. I did this once years ago when we purchased a coffee maker because disney was out of them at the contemporary.
