Is This Allowed?

She can decline a magic band at the value and do everything under the reservation at YC... You don't think there's ever been 2 "Ed Smith's" at Disney World at one time? I really doubt the same name and nothing linked to one of the magic bands would be an issue...

I had three reservations at two hotels last year, and it was fine. The system coped with it without any problems. I had to have different magic bands to open the 3 different rooms but that was the only hassle, and it was minor.

I would have her book her own room, then, once onsite, add her as a dayguest at YC resort front desk.

Dayguests typically follow the same occupancy rules (that’s the only way we’ve done it). However, you will not be charged the nightly fee, since dayguests are not considered overnight guests. As your dayguest, she will be given a plastic key card and have access to daily resort amenities only. No EMH, charging privileges, etc.

The process is resort specific/internal, so it will not mess up her MB at another resort. You can also add a different variation of name.

This sounds like the best answer. I was going to suggest that you NOT pay the extra person fee until you've asked at the front desk first. I didn't realize there was a formal day guest status. The point is that you're asking the cast members (and not trying to sneak a fast one on Disney). Worst case, if you have to pay extra you're not worse off than you were planning to be.

Yes, this is by far the easiest allowable solution that I can think of.

I have no clue why my post was misconstrued to have the friend added every day, suspicious, etc. Especially since I don’t know the OP’s plans or what the front desk chooses to do. If posters have a better solution to offer the OP, then, by all means, post it. Otherwise sub-posting personal opinions is not helpful.

Suspicious of what?

Anyone know what the guidelines are for day guests?

A day-guest is someone who is given resort permission to be added to the room of a registered guest for day amenities only. Again, the process follows room occupancy guidelines (see links below for examples). They do not pay overnight or parking fees, since they are not staying overnight. They also do not have access to the DDP, EMH, and charging privileges, unless formally added to the reservation with accompanying overnight fees.

Again, the YC/BC resorts are a different animal entirely. My daughter is at WDW this week and her friends are staying at a value. They have been able to add her as a day guest but had they been at the YC or BC, the answer may have been different. They are much more strict with guests at Stormalong Bay. It is possible they would allow it but it's also entirely possible they won't. The only way to guarantee she'd be allowed is if she is on the reservation.

The YC front desk is able to add her as registered overnight guest, as well.

In our case, because we were below room occupancy, the Polynesian front desk could either add as a day or overnight guest (rebooking the entire reservation including fees + package components and charging the remaining balance).

I understand it is YC, I do. But I also feel that the OP deserves to know this information and speak to the front desk about the policy before paying fees.

I had no idea my suggestion would get me accused of doing something wrong. We always follow the rules. What did I say wrong?

Our adult son does not always want to stay in our room or at our resort. It would actually be much cheaper if we just paid the extra adult per night fee. However, for him to visit and enjoy the resort with us without staying the night in our room, the resort manager has added him as a day-guest.

No, I did not say free. Sneaking an adult in your room at night without paying the extra fee is suggesting free.

I never accused you of doing anything suspicious, sneaky or wrong. If you spoke with the hotel manager and they added him as a day-guest, you did everything on the up-and-up. As I said in my post, adding a guest as a day-guest with no extra adult fee would be at the discretion of the resort and shouldn't be expected as the norm at all WDW resorts.

Just a note for future trips, the WDW resort front desk CM's cannot rebook reservations with package components. If you add someone post-check in, it's either as a day guest (as was done in your case) or as an overnight guest with any extra adult fees that might be applicable, but dining plans and tickets cannot be added to room packages once you are checked in. You can certainly purchase tickets separately, but you can't add a dining plan for someone that wasn't on the package when you arrive at the front desk.

I didn't read through all the replies, and this is not what you asked, but we just had DH, me, teen, and tween in a BC room for four nights and it was *tight*. I would strongly suggest booking another room or transferring to a moderate and booking two rooms there. We all agreed that we would rather switch to a moderate or go less often and get two rooms at BC/YC. I think it will be very awkward for both your daughter and your daughter's friend, not to mention you, if you all share a room.

Yes, it was absolutely done right.

Thinking back, when the resort manager mentioned day vs night guest, he said he could either do day-guest or close out the package and rebook starting with that day. This was done due to guests who circumvent rules pertaining to the DDP (edited to word better).

We just wanted DS to have an extra key. I can count on one hand how many times we’ve used the pools over the years...

Outcome? Decision by OP? No idea on age of guest but also think that unless this is a minor, I’d have gotten a separate room for daughter/friend.
