We will be leaving in 11 days for WDW! Yea!! :cool1: Trying to figure out which meals we'll be using our TS credits and our QS credits on. We have 3 character meals that will require 2 TS for each person + we made reservations at an abundance of TS restaurants so we will have quite a few meals where we are paying OOP. I was noticing as I was going thru the menus that at several restaurants my 2 pickiest children (my 17 yr old and my 14 yr old) would probably rather eat off the kids menus instead of the adult menus. Could we order kids meals for them (even though they are well over 9 yrs old) and pay OOP and save their adult credits to be used at other TS meals? Is this allowed? Are the DDP credits tied to individual people or can anyone in your party use them? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give!

Yes, you can absolutely do this. You will want to let your server know ahead of time with that info.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong - but they will not let a 17 and 14 year old order off the kids menu at a TS restaurant.

You can order whatever you want off of the menu, kids menu or adult menu and pay OOP for it. At any age. There are some restrictions when using the DDP.

I believe that they will be allowed to order off the kid's menu.

Typically, yes. However there have been a few reports of guests being told No. La Hacienda is one that seems to be mentioned a bit. And The Plaza has done this at least once, from what I have read here.

Most of the TS will allow an adult to order of the child's menu, but there have been a few inconsistent exceptions (La Hacienda, Plaza Inn, Via Napoli have been mentioned in the past). So be sure to ask your server before placing the order.

Adults will be charged the adult price at buffets (e.g., Chef Mickey's), fixed price meals (e.g., CRT), AYCTE/family-style (e.g., 'Ohana), dinner shows (e.g., HDDR), or dining packages (e.g., Fantasmic Dining Package) regardless of what is ordered or how much is eaten.

They let my 50 year old father (the KING of picky eaters..) do this last week. They just charge twice the kids price.

IceSkatingPrincess: OP here: did your father get twice the amount of food when they charged him double the kids price? I would be ok with that and I think my 17 and 14 yr olds could definitely eat double kids meals each. That would be a good solution for us.

Thanks everyone for chiming in! We're going to give this a shot when we're at WDW in 9 days!

He did. He did it at Rose and Crown and got the chicken. He received 2 grilled chicken slices (not sure if slices is the word.. cutlets? you get what I mean I'm sure) and what looked to be double what a kids side would be for each side. He did get a regular adult sized drink, though. I hope that helps! The server said people don't do it often so some servers may need to ask a manager on how to charge it, but it is 100% allowed.

If you ran into an issue getting an "adult size" portion anywhere, I feel like you could just as easily order 2 kids meals for the sake of simplicity. You'd just have two plates as opposed to the one plate the adult size comes on.

Good luck! (he loved the chicken, by the way!)

Just make sure the server knows exactly what you are asking for. On our last trip using the dining plan my son wanted to order off the kids menu at Rose and Crown. That was not a problem, but I didn't state that we wanted to use his TS credit so we were charged for his meal. Not a big deal. Later in the week at T-Rex we did the same thing but stated that our son wanted to order off the kids menu using his adult TS credit. They had no problem doing this and just brought him a larger portion of the kids menu food. Good luck!

Keep in mind too that while some restaurants may do double portions, not every restaurant will all of the time. It is truly up to the discretion of the CMs there at the time. Ask about it for sure, but try not to be too upset if they tell you they are unable to do double portions.

I noticed that you said you have three 2 credit character meals. You are aware that all character meals are not two credits - just CRT and the dinner shows. Your adult children will be charged adult prices at all buffets, family style and dinner shows.

WantToGoNow: Yes, we have 3 that use 2: we're doing CRT, the Star Wars breakfast at SciFi and the Star Wars dinner at Hollywood and Vine, but are aware that not all use 2 credits We also have 1 that only use 1 credit pp (1900 Park Fair). We're ok with using adult TS for the adult kids as they can generally find something they'll eat at the buffets. Its those non-buffets where we sometimes have an issue. Thanks for your heads up, though!
