Is this allowed on board?

Well, power cords and extensions cords are prohibited and since that is labeled as such, I would say it would be prohibited. Looks nice though!

I agree that this would be a prohibited item, as it has full plug capabilities. Using something like that which only has USB ports however would be allowed.

Since it has regular plugs, I would say it would be prohibited. We take a 5 USB port unit without the full plugs and it is fine.

Thanks all for your answers. I also chatted with DCL and they said nope. I'll send my mom your link, @g_ppetto , thank you!
I hope she enjoys it. We're still using it as our main device to charge our devices. One port is connected to an Anker wireless charger that sits on top. The chargers we received with our phones, tablet, batteries, etc., are still in the ziplock bag I took on the cruise. Good to have back up, just in case.

You can check with DCL to see if it is permitted. I asked about a 6 port USB charger before I purchased it and they said it was an approved device. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P93618...olid=1KZAAS3A6OM0X&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

This is very similar to the USB charger I've been using for several years and love it. I bring it with me whenever I travel. It is extremely handy. So many things charge via USB. Highly recommend.

I love my anker charger. Works like a charm. I have the 5, but you can get bigger ones, if you need. I think the smaller ones are just wall plugs, though, not with an extension. Also, I think there's a version with a Samsung Qualcomm (?) in it.

I would be cautious about that answer. The people shoreside do not make the call. The people at the port do. And, since the description of the item states "surge protection" I'm thinking it won't be allowed.

But, you never know.

When I first asked DCL about the charger I sent them the link to the Amazon page above. Their first reply was a generic non-answer reply. I replied and pushed a little bit and requested they contact whoever they needed to contact to determine if the charger would be approved. I received a reply and was told the charger was an approved device. Then I made my purchase. Looking at the above links, it is the same charger - one page at Anker, one page at Amazon.

If you are going to purchase the 6 port charger, you may want to pick up one of their wireless chargers too. This is the one I bought - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DBXZZN3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It is not really a 'charger' like the 6 port or a wall wart charger. It plugs into one of the 6 ports and can sit on top of the 6 port charger rather nicely. I won't take it when we travel, but for home use, it is great. My wife sets her phone on it at night. No more fussing with the cable. You are probably going to use the 6 port charger after you get home from the cruise. This is a nice addition.

We have asked before about electronic devices and have found shoreside will check with the right people before replying to say something is ok. For one device, we were told it would be allowed but we would still HAVE to get it inspected and approved on board. For the anker, see below.

Regarding the anker, I provided them the link and what they specifially said was:

" After viewing your Anker Power Port, I can advise the Guests are certainly able to bring a multiple port USB wall charger onboard! You do have the option to speak with the Guest Services desk upon boarding the ship to ensure the Master Electrician approves yours specifically for safe use in your stateroom, but I can safely say they are permitted for use. "

My original question re: the Anker was: "(2) I know extension cords, power strips and surge protectors are prohibited. Are USB wall chargers, such as this 6 port one by Anker ( https://www.anker.com/products/variant/powerport-6/A2123123 ) allowed ? If it is allowed, would we need to get it cleared for use by staff once on board ?"

Note that the Anker only has 6 USB ports, no normal plug ports, and has a two-prong plug.

We have to have a medical device cleared by the Master Electrician each cruise, so we will ask them to clear the Anker as well, and will report back on the results of that. It won't be a big deal either way, just much more inconvenient if it is ultimately rejected.

At least they are consistent in their answers :-)

We have to get a medical device cleared by the Master Electrician on board, so when we sail later this year I will also ask them to clear the Anker, and will report back on the response. We'll see if shoreside was correct or whether they will be getting a sternly worded complaint.

If you haven't done so already, there is a link at the bottom of this page https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/guest-services/guests-with-disabilities/ for the Guest Services Information Form - https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/special-services-information-form/ to let them know you are bringing medical equipment. We travel with a CPAP and ECV, and filled out the form accordingly. It may help speed review and approval.

I was wondering what happens if you have prohibited items when departing and arriving at different ports. We are booked on the 2019 WBTA and I have purchased a converter and a couple of adapters so we can use/charge our flat irons, phones, etc., while in the UK. None of them have cords and plug directly into the wall so I hope they are acceptable items. I would hate to have to leave them on the dock in Dover.

Thanks. We fill out the form but then follow up with an email as all the info we need to give them doesn't fit in their form. Fortunately they are very responsive and helpful.

And yes, being in touch with them in advance about the medical device we knew would need approval was definitely helpful. They were able to pre-approve it to the extent it could be in advance, in that it was approved pending the Master Electrician giving the final go-ahead. This was important for me because I wanted to know in advance that it was something that was allowed instead of something we were going to be told "no" for. I had no problem with it needing a final inspect and approval by the Master Electrician to ensure it was safe.

Also, filling out the form ensures we have a gallon of distilled water waiting in our stateroom, and also that they know we need them to provide us an extension cord for medical reasons.

If there's something that they take because it's not allowed, it will travel on the ship and will be on a table at your departure port for you. I had an extension cord taken on the recent Panama Canal cruise so I know this first-hand. The tricky part is remembering to pick it up 14 days later when leaving the ship!
