Is this acceptable?

I hope this isn't flammable, but I was wondering if it is acceptable or just plain tacky. We will be out there in Oct and I was thinking about celebrating my sons birthday at each of the parks. I'm not looking for anything free or special treatment, I just love the way my son looks and feels whenever the CMs say Happy Birthday and call him by name. It makes him feel like a million bucks. Any opinions? TIA

No Flames Here. We have done the same thing for my son when he turned 2 and 3. It is like his birthday week. He really enjoyed all the Happy Birthdays he recieved. Go for it your son will love it. :)

Surely mention it whenever you check in at a full-service restaurant. They provided wonderful experiences for our Rachel's fifth birthday.

Have him wear a Happy Birthday pin (I think Guest Relations have them) and he'll be greeted by the Cast Members.

Hope he has a great time. :bday:

I started a thread about basically the same thing a while back and things got pretty heated. I say do what you want. We decided that our daughter would wear something that reads birthday week not TODAY is my birthday, that way we hope no one will feel we are ' cheating ' even though you do not get any extras for it being your b-day, basically all you will receive is birthday wishes.

have fun and good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Thanks everyone. And thanks for the suggestion of the "birthday week" idea. I may have to use that.

I got and ADR for CRT this morning and did tell them that it was his birthday. I know he's a boy, but he keeps saying that he wants to eat in the castle. The CM and I were laughing today because we both know that's not true. He really wants all the attention from the pretty princesses. :rotfl:

Oh yeah...that thread was a real eye opener!! :rolleyes2 I think twoeeyy was called everything from a cheater to a bad parent for letting her kids "lie" in order to get "special treatment". Ugh!!

Have a blast and celebrate away! We celebrate Birth-months around this house, and somehow, I'm able to look at myself in the mirror, and be OK with it. Have fun!! ::MickeyMo

WHEN I took my nephew for his bday the CM herself at ASMu suggested to make sure to get the pin at every single park everyday wego even at Downtown Disney. He was 4 then. Even if you did your ADR still mention at thbe door the when you approach your host that it his bday that week and they will prepare the cup cake and the card signed by either the character in that restaurant if there is no character the CMs who work there would be the one signing it. The best place I have ever taken any of my family even without ADR was the 9 Dragons at EPCOT, they even provide a thin layer 6 inch cake for a couple of my niece when it was their bday week. Have fun!!! That is the best possible way a kid remember how magic in Disney works...

BIRTHDAY WEEK! I LIKE THAT! \

Is Birthday Week just for kids?

Can I have Birthday Week even though I'm 40?

My DH always used to like to celebrate birthday month!! As his birthday is at the end of the month (August) he felt that was fair!! I think as he shares his birthday with his older sister (three years older, not a twin) he probably felt he was deprived. To make matters worse his older brother (two years older) has a birthday two weeks later, so I guess birthdays were a bit enmasse in his household. However I really blew his catch-up plans for him as our son was born the second week of August, so my poor husband barely gets his birthday week now!!

I would go with the birthday week/month thing. Maybe not so much if his birthday was a few months away..purely as I know my DS4 would tell everyone exactly when his birthday was, and I would feel a little embarassed if I was months out!!

no flames here. you are not expecting any special treatment and you are not asking for any. there is nothing wrong with celebrating a birthday whether it is that day or not. how many times do you wait to celebrate a birthday or celebrate it with a party when it is more convenient. in my mind this is much the same thing. have fun.

Please don't flame me. But we are going to celebrate dd's 16 bday in Aug even though it was really June. The trip was a promised present when she was 12, so we could do a backstage tour :cool1: . But we ended up getting a new house in May and moving in June so our trip was delayed. (Oh and by the end of August when we are going she'll have finished her summer homework for her AP classes. If we went in June she'd have to do history and English homework :crazy2: )

also check the Gherardelli web site *looking for it as I type* add your email and the bday and they will meial you a buy 1 get 1 free coupon. Do it atleast 6 weeks prior to departure so you can get it before going to wdw! :mickeybar

I personally don't see any problem with that. One's have the rights to celebrate their birthday anytime they want, especially when the trip IS to celebrate one's birthday.

Question,
My dd will be 3, Sept.15th. We are celebrating on the 5 at Disney, her older sisters know when her birthday is (they don't know about the trip). So do I explain to them that we are doing it early and not correct well wishers? I'm trying to instill good morals.

We are going before DD turned 3 to save $, but I've read that if they turn 3 during your trip that it's ok. I asked a CM when first looking into the trip, since we thought we would be going during her b-day, she very snotly told me "thet're not going to ask for proof".

I can just see us celebrating her b-day then getting a bill adding a child to our package.

Actually, I think at 40 it goes from Birthday week to Birthday month! :Pinkbounc

And don't forget, it is almost always your unbirthday!

Disney has been known generally to make such exceptions, yes. Just ask politely when you get to the parks.

Go for it! We will be celebrating DD's birthday this October.....can't wait!
