Looking to book AKV (my home resort) for Christmas 2012, and will need a 1BR for 4 days and a 2BR for the following 4 days. Will this be considered a split stay? :confused3 Will I have to book it as 2 seperate stays or will MS book it as one? If its a split stay will I be able to book the whole 8 days at the beginning of my 11 month window, or will I have to call back 4 days later to book the 2BR stay? Thanks in advance for any help! :)

Well, Disney or DVC does not use the terminology "split stay" - there is no such animal in Disney terms.

Your would have 2 separate reservations since you are switching room sizes and will have to book them separately, 11 months/7 months out from the start of each part.

Yep, two seperate reservations with two seperate 7 month windows. If you wait until the second 7 month window, you can look them at the same time. You could book the 1 BR for 8 nights at the 7 month and then call 4 days later to modify to 4 / 4. Not sure if there is any benefit to you in doing that.

The OP is booking their home resort so it should be the 11 month window..
But booking 7 days in the 1BR 11 month from check-in then switching the last 3 to a 2BR does let you book the 1BR earlier so that helps. Not sure if that helps with the 2BR portion.

Ideally (and if you had the points) book the 2BR for 7+1 days at the exact window. Then later change the 1st 4 to a 1BR. (But you have to be using extra current UY points that can be banked or used) worst case scenario, you have a bunch of space for the 1st 4 days.

A DVC reservation is defined in their computer system as:

Resort + Room Type + View + Check-In-Date + Number-Of-Nights

If you can't describe the stay with a single entry in each of those fields, it constitutes multiple reservations. So, you will be able to book your first 4 nights in the 1BR at 11-months from your check-in date, then add the nights in the 2BR as a second reservation 4 days later.
