Just read in USA today that the journalist, David Koenig, has written a book "Realityland - True Life Adventures of Walt Disney World". I checked, it's available on Amazon.com by the way.

It's unauthorized and does not sound like it's going to be a strong endorsement of current Disney practices.

....one quote for example about Disney's current philosopy regarding $$$$....

Former...."long term approach was to provide exceptional products, creating customers for life. Today - short term philosphy is to separate as much money from customers as possible." A bit of truth in that...but OUCH.

Sounds like there is good AND bad.....or perhaps simply.....honesty.

I'm sure there will be some here lighting the flame throwers.....I'm just the messenger. I'll be curious to hear what our reviews will be once we have read the book.

Anyone seen it in person yet?

This isn't Koenig's first Disney book-
He also wrote "Mouse under Glass" and maybe another one about Disneyland.

I don't think those really hurt Disney very much.

I learned a lot of fun facts and trivia from his book. As long as he isn't just making things up, I don't have a problem with it.

I just recieved the book and haven't had a chance to read it.

In terms of its impact, I really don't think it will have any. I think it's fair to say that most people already believes that Disney's "short term philosphy is to separate as much money from customers as possible." How you pay over seven dollars for an hot dog meal and not see that!

The book is aimed mostly at fans; it's an inside look into a world that's well known, but few are going to take the time to read up on.
