I have booked 2 weeks at Holiday Inn International drive flying with Travel city direct Sunshine first from Gatwick for the last 2 weeks in April 2006 but after booking found this was actually Easter - believed had booked a quieter time of the year but now unsure help what is easter like in the parks :scared1:

From what i have taken off these board's easter is a very busy time in the park's.

Sorry..I guess it's not what you wanted to hear.

Hiya :wave2:

Never been at Easter JJP, But after been on this board a while it is a time of year I would never consider!

Having read reports of terrible crowd levels I would take the plunge and pay a transfer fee to re-schedule my trip had I been in your position.

If you aren't tied to school holidays then I would recommend you try and book it for a few weeks later - May is a great time to go I hear :)

We have been in July, August, September and October. Now we are tied to school holidays were we thinking of going at Easter but after reading these boards it put us off and we are going in May (keeping the kids off school for 5 days)

Don't panic!
Yes, it will be busy in the parks because it is Easter, but you can plan around that. We had our last trip over Easter and really only noticed a difference in crowd levels over Easter weekend, after then it was fine.
You are probably paying more at this time as it covers school hoildays so postponing a week will make all the difference and may even cover the cost of any ammendment fees, but if you can't change then don't worry you will still have a fantastic time.
If you find the parks crowded make use of Fastpass and go early in the day or later in the evening. Attractions are quiet during parades and fireworks too.

We always go in May(our favourite time of the year, excellent weather, and minimal crowds), Ive also been in July twice, and easter once.
Easter was the busiest time Ive ever been, but if you plan round the amount of people in the parks you should be okay. personally I wouldnt go at easter again if I had a choice.

JJP,

Almost evryone going at Easter will be going because they're tied to school holiday dates,If you aren't, I would definitely consider moving your dates :guilty:

If you can move your dates, do. It will be quieter. As a family, we always used to go for three weeks around easter, and the two weeks that fell in the Easter Holidays were always much busier at the parks, most notably at Universal I'd say. Disney is busy whenever you go, it'll just be busier. But at quieter times of the year (like early June when we go now), Universal is much quieter. We went to Universal Studios one day, got there for the gate opening, and had done five or six of the big rides with less than 5 minutes standing in line at each, and had done them within 90 minutes I think. So the rest of the day was quite relaxed as we knew we'd done the main rides, but did some again anyway because for some the queues never got that busy. Easter weeks were a whole different storey, where we could be waiting easily for an hour at the bigger rides. It won't be the end of the world if you go at Easter, you'll just be waiting in queues for longer.

Your first week will be really busy, but your second week will be really quiet. Good Friday is 14th. So if you avoid the first weekend by the second week it should be much less crowded.

Good luck

Susan

Actually, easter weekend will fall at the beginning of your holiday, Good Friday is the 14th April next year. Once the easter weekend is over the crouds thin completely. We went on Good Friday this year and by the end of the first week the really big crowds had gone and it was quiet(ish) in the parks. But be warned, they do close earlier once the crowds thin and there aren't nearly the same number of parades.

Hi JJP

We are tied to school holidays and have been many a time at Easter.
Yes, it is busy - but I believe the parks are open longer (I remember staying till midnight in the Magic Kingdom) and the parades/shows tend to run more often. For example, the second showing of Fantasmic at MGM is a lot quieter and removes the need for queueing. Whereas, I have heard that if there is only one showing people queue for upto 2 hours !
Its best to go to the parks early in the morning, take a rest over lunchtime, and then return mid afternoon.
If we weren't tied to the holidays - I think it'd be the cost that would prevent us from going at Easter - not the crowds.

Hi JJP,

Easter is the busiet time of year at the parks after Christmas Day.
Just check that our Easter is their Easter, if you see what I mean :earsgirl:
