Is this a "mean" smiley?

I have always seen it as a "fake innocence" type of thing. Like, "Who me? I didn't just intentionally make a controversial statement in the hopes of starting a big flame war!" :rolleyes1

That's exactly how I've always viewed it. I've never used it either.

Also could be used by a poster when that poster thinks that another poster is good looking like a wolf whistle :teeth:

I don't think it's mean at all. I use it sometimes as sort of a guilty thing. Example: "I told my son he couldn't have anymore cake. Then I had a huge piece myself. :rolleyes1 "

this is my interpertation of it also... and it bugs me that it says roll eyes and not innocent....

Me too...

I think this is one smilie that can be taken alot of different ways. This is why I tend not to use it. But, I don't think it is a mean one.

It can be taken alot of different ways. I think it depends on what is written too... :confused3

yup me too :rolleyes1

no i don't think it is mean I use it alot like

who me?? no wasn't me :rolleyes1

I have used it in reference to myself but not directed at anyone else. Not sure why it's called rolleyes. It doesn't roll it's eyes at all :confused3

Just out of curiosity, when any of you use a smiley, do you use it based on how it actually looks or what the descriptive word says? There have been times where I've gone to use a smiley, but then didn't because the word says something I don't intend, like the "guilty" one.

To me it's mock innocence.

:rotfl2: and :confused3 are both horrific though!
