Is this a good rate for the Polynesian?

We'll be staying at the Polynesian (for the first time!) for a short trip the end of January...we have a lagoon view room reserved at an AP rate of $255, tax included. Is this a good rate, or should we keep trying? We paid about $50 less per night last year at the Grand Floridian...

Thanks for your input!:D

Well, my experience is that you book for whatever you can get now and call back to update your reservation when there is a discount of which can be applied to your reservation.

I also found this from Mary's website. Have you tried this code?

Annual Passholder rates for 1/1/03-2/12/03: ask for Code CGL and get super discounts of up to 40% off! Discounted rates apply to all Disney resort hotels, subject to availability for your dates.

We just came back from Poly 2 weeks ago and this is what we paid for a garden view room in Tokelau: $140/per night.. We got it because of CBR closure and the upgrade options they offered to me........

I used Dreams Unlimited for my recent trip to WDW and the agent was the person who got me the deal!!! If you have never used it before, you can give it a try. Or just pay close attention to the upcoming discount.

Hope it helps!!

I called last month to go over the weekend paying cash and was quoted a rate of $220.00 per night for the Polynesian with an AP discount. I don't know for sure how much busier it suppossedly is in Jan. vs. Oct. but I would think that the end of Jan. would be less expensive than Oct. so to me $250.00 seems a little high. I only called the night before I went down though, Maybe this could have something to do with it? Not really sure. I would definetly keep checking though.

HookedonMagic,

We are paying $266.50 a night (4 nights) for AP Poly Garden conceirge in mig-January. Supposedly, the general public code rates should be out soon and are almost as cheap. For me, it was worth upgrading to conceirge and giving up my lagoon view with the AP rates. If I have to, I'll buy the AP (before year end - price supposedly going up) and hold on to my Park Hopper Plus ticket if the general codes are significantly higher.

If you can spend only $11.50 on breakfast (and snacks??) each day, then your rate is a good one. If you will be spending more, I'd consider bumping to conc., especially if a full family is going along. I don't know how much difference in view you would have from a standard lagoon vs. Garden conc. room. This will be a first-time trip for us to WDW, so I have no comparison.

But from the sound of everything I've read here, on Tikiman's site, and wdwig, Poly is worth it!
Enjoy!!
:smooth:

Ticket prices just went up in September, so I doubt that they'll be going up again that soon.

Before that, they hadn't gone up for over a year and a half, so I'm hoping that we'll be safe for a while.

Good Luck!

Heh, I got the Poly last December for $200/nt, and this year for $182/nt in Nov, but those are both Garden views. (AP Rate)

Just keep calling back to see if you can get a better rate!

I've paid from $149 to $465 a night to stay at the Poly,
and the lowest rates were with my AP.

The place is awesome!

And if you can afford concierge...DO IT!

You'll be spoiled for the rest of your life!

And the Poly concierge is the BEST!

Check out Tikiman's site.:bounce:

Mary Waring's Mousesavers.com is a great site for codes!

That rate seems to be a fairly normal discount to me. Lagoon view rooms are quite a bit more, almost the same as garden view concierge (as seeWDW posted). I recall seeing garden view rooms closer to $200, sometimes less, but some of that was last Fall. I have also occassionally seen GF rooms for ~$200, but they were garden view as well.

A lot of people opt for GV concierge over regular lagoon view. Depends on what you want - view vs service & snacks, I guess :)

Have a great trip!
