Is this a good rate from National? 378.05 for a full size car for 10 days in August? I used an American Express code and this price seems to be the cheapest I've found.
For anyone with any knowledge of rental prices, is this a good rate or could I do better?

I expect you could do better. check mousesavers for codes.

The code I used was from Mousesavers and it was the cheapest out of all the codes I tried! :(

Did you try the Carlson Wagonlit code? Our rental in July for 9 days was $345 total before the code and $267 after using that code.

do you belong to Sam's Club, Costco or BJ's? AAA? Have you tried Pricelessvacations.com or http://www.pcpages.com/rentalcodes/ or http://www.autorentalguide.com/index.shtml

Buy using Sam's club code and 20.00 coupon, I have a convertable for 241.89 for 8 days through Alamo or a Full size car for 8 days using the same code and a free day coupon, through alamo for 188.13. this is for Sept over the Labor day time period.

I think that you can do better. I have an EA Intermediate car for 17 days in August for $480 total. I used the Carlson Wagonlit code (on Mousesavers) and a $20 off coupon from the Entertainment book. The Priceless Vacation code did not work well for me (price was $100 more). Don't forget to keep checking your rates as your vacation gets closer. Many people have found that their rates have gone down in the past couple of weeks, though unfortunately, I am not one of them. Good Luck!

Im glad I asked here before I went and booked because I had my DH convinced this was a great rate! I will play around with the codes a bit more but the American Express code was still cheaper than Carlson code and Costco!
Thanks for your replies!

I've got EA Intermediate using Carlson ID plus $20 off Entertainment coupon for an 11 day rental and it is $302 w/tax. I'm hoping that it goes down even lower as July approaches.

I'm using the carlson code for my July trip. 10 days, EA, intermediate for $273 total. Using $20 entertainment book coupon also. I have an 11 day rental, same size, same codes for $303 for late October. I expect as the patterns have shown, that the rate may start falling as the time gets closer. That just happened with our may trip and we're paying $214 total for an 11 day rental, EA, intermediate.
