My husband and I are taking a trip to the world next year. we will be going the fist week in May. We want to add two days at Universal to the end of our trip. I was thinking about doing the Harry Potter attractions one day and the rest of USF and IOA the second day. Is that a good idea?

A little extra info

-This will be our first trip to Universal
-We will be there on a Thursday and Friday
-We will be staying onsite at the Hard Rock
-We don't want to do any character meet and greets
-We have no interest in water rides

What do you think? Will this work?

I am no expert but I do know that the HP areas are crammed in the middle of the day. If I was you I would do HP areas in the mornings and the evenings and do the other things midday when it is more crowded and use the Express Pass that you will have from staying onsite. Hp is beautiful at night.

I don't think you need a whole day just to do the Harry Potter areas. That would be like taking a whole day to do Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.....well, almost.

I agree with samheatherwhite. I would split WWoHP into two days. Go to the Potter area of the park with early entry and enjoy it until it gets too crowded to accomplish much. It's not a fun place to be when you can barely get into the stores and it's hard to move. At that point take advantage of your Express Pass in the rest of the parks. Then go back to the Potter area toward the end of the day when the crowds thin some. The first time we went to Universal, we arrived mid-day and went straight to WWoHP. It took us longer to get a Butterbeer and go to the bathroom in the middle of the day than it did to ride Forbidden Journey and the Dragon coaster early the next morning.

wednesday and thursday would be better.

each year the Grad adventure happens and the parks close earlier on fridays.
next year it will be held May 5-12-19
park closes early as gradadventure starts at 7:00 pm

not sure what time they will close the park on that friday, but at least one hour prior to the childrens event.

many of the local schools have field trips to UO in May on fridays during the day.

you can get a lot done in the parks on thursday and catch up on the things you missed on friday.

(i pulled up next year's schedule to get the accurate dates for the events)

Good advice above. I just wanted to give a shout out to the Bumblebee meet and greet. That was one fun character interaction. :)
