Is this a good flight price.

I have now received quotes for various flights and whilst my main criteria was seat back tv's for the children and a good luggage allowance i'm willing to take a portable dvd player instead.

My dates are - 18/09/08 to 09/10/08.

I have these quotes for fly drive (including fully inclusive car hire).

Virgin Holidays (glasgow-gatwick-orlando) - £2449.10.

Globespan (glasgow-orlando) - £2192.00.

And flights only:

BMI (aberdeen-manchester-chicago-orlando) - £1741.60.

Virgin Atlantic (london-orlando) - £1985.20.

United Airlines (glasgow-london-DC-orlando) - £1992.80.

Virgin Holidays (glasgow-london-orlando) - £2052.00.

British Airways (glasgow-london-orlando) - £2191.20.

It looks like Globespan are the best bet and with their premium economy now becoming standard economy the luggage allowance is 25kg (although it doesn't say if it's one bag or two at 23kg each (I assume just one).

Any thoughts? Also, a travel agent told me that Globespan put their prices up with every 9 seats sold, does anyone know if this is true?

:thumbsup2

When are you going Paula-Jane? The BMI £1741 sounds not too bad !!

I'm trying to get prices for next October but most airlines aren't putting the October prices up yet. I just don't fancy the 2 changes - one is bad enough.

But hey, if it means a few hundred pounds less I'm all for it !!

A thought - but have you tried BA yet? You can fly Aberdeen/Gatwick/MCO with them.

Hi Sue,

My dates are out on the 18th September and back on 9th October.

BA's flight is quoted above and strangely enough it costs £5 more to fly from Aberdeen instead :confused3

I think I would go for the direct flight with Virgin, for the sake of a couple of hundred I would rather just get there than stop off several times. :goodvibes

Pixie we are currently looking for flights from 9/9-30/9 & so far our best quote is with continental,£200 cheaper than both BA & VA BUT no seat back entertainment & we are now trying to persuade DS (13 at time of flying) that his DD would much rather have that extra £200 in his pocket!:) The flights are Glasgow-Newark-Orlando but due to the wait in Gatwick with both BA & VA the trip time is less. Another option could be Glasgow -Manchester-Orlando I've had that quoted & was a better price for VA than London.
I've been using www.airline-network.co.uk but you may have to wait a week as your flights are later than ours.

I would wait until January 2008 Sales. I booked our flights (Gatwick-Orlando)for December in January 2007 and paid just over £1500 for 5 Adults and 1 Child, flying with BA, Virgin prices were also similar. I would imagine you would see similar prices for flying in September. I think it is really worth waiting. I think BA do free connections as well. You can sign up as a member whch often gives you an extra £10 or £20 off per ticket, plus you will gat an early notification of when the sales are about to start.

Good luck,
Nichola

Got to agree with above poster, albeit it is good to have them booked the prices do come down a bit around about christmas time, bide your time!! pretty sure the BA prices will come down a fair bit + its not a busy time of year either so im sure the prices will tumble, also it's up to you but id steer clear of globespan the amount of problems they are having , cancelling flights at short notice, etc
