Is this a good deal? Need American Girl Experts

I was on the hunt for a "used" American girl to add to the one she received last Christmas....I posted a Craigslist ad, and received a few replies. One person in particular made me this offer.....

5 dolls from Adult's original collection...all in excellent shape, displayed only....and each comes with a book. $75 each or $300 for all 5.

While I am not in a position to buy this myself, I could convince a few friends/family members to maybe do it with me...they have little girls, too...What I want to know is ...Is $75 overpriced for not NEW dolls? What about the $300 for all 5???? Thanks!!

I think this is a good deal. Esp since the dolls are about $20 more now brand new. It would help to know how old the dolls are and if you could see them first.

If the dolls are 20+ years old they may be from before the Mattel take over and could be very excellent collectibles and could go for much much more.

AG dolls hold their value very well.

These may be the original AG before Mattel and they are IMHO nicer. Samantha is retired so it may be a good deal, $60 each if you buy all of them.

Seeing as it's on Craig's list, and reading about the people who have gotten scammed by different things, I would not buy sight unseen.

I wouldn't pay $20 for a new American Girl doll. My wife bought our daughters each a doll for their birthdays and she agrees that it was a complete waste of $200+. We didn't see anything special about them to justify paying more for them than a $20 doll at a store.

Not understanding the American Girl fad.....
