I'm no expert, but a friend recently purchased a Toshiba netbook and she's very pleased with it, I'm under the impression that Toshiba is cranking out some pretty good computer products.

Toshiba laptops are well-rated--I'm typing on one now. The reason this laptop is cheap is that it is using an older/slower processer. Depending on what you want to do with it, this could make a difference.

You should look for a laptop with an Intel "i" series processor. I was able to score a "cheapy" at Best Buy these weekend that had an i-3 processor. I got it for $400. The screen is not as large as the one you described here but it's got a good processor in it and that's what is important to me.

I can't tell you a lot about Toshiba, but if that copy of Windows 7 is the 32bit version the memory should be fine, but if it is the 64bit version than I can tell you that 3GB really isn't enough, you really should have at least 4 if not more.
