Is this a crazy amount to spend in tickets?

We will be in Orlando for 14 days with Universal being our big focus. Unfortunately 3 of the 5 of us really want to go to WDW. It has been 5 years since we were last there so we have been saving and have the money set aside but as I look into purchasing the tickets I am choking a little. We are trying to buy 4 day PTP passes at Universal, 3 day + 1 day free WDW PH, and a Go Orlando Card which will allow us to go to LL, Gatorland and Kennedy Space Station.

I have looked at tickets on many sites and I am getting the lowest price of $3800. Does this seem reasonable for 5 people for 11 days of entertainment? Are we crazy to do WDW and Universal the same trip?

Call me crazy but I do 18 days total for both parks in all and feel the price pain too

I have the UO AP so that helps with costs

We did 14 days just UO and WDW. The other places seem so far away!

Any trip is extra-expensive when you're buying multiple short-duration tickets. Once you get to the longer-stay tickets at WDW it gets cheaper per day, and once you get to a certain point with UO it makes sense to get the Power Pass (as long as there aren't blockout dates during your trip).

You have done your research and know that LL is about an hour+ away, and so is Kennedy (the other way)? Not sure where Gatorland is.

If that`s what you want to do then of course it`s worth it!!!

Any trip is going to be expensive if you are only doing a day or so.Much like Disney, Universal is a destination .So , the more you stay , the cheaper it is.Only you can determine whether it is worth it or not

Not sure where Gatorland is.

Its not far at all. 7.5 miles from SW, 12 miles from Universal, 11.5 miles from DTD. Very easy to get there.

Do you have access to "ticketsatwork.com"? I've found some good deals on there. Have you checked Undercover Tourist using the Mousesavers.com discount link? We recently forked over an extra $106 pp to spend just 1 day at WDW during our Universal trip. We had a great time and it was worth paying the premium for 1 day tix.

Does your cost of the tickets include paying for Express Pass at Unuversal? Ifso, it's sometimes cheaper to pay for the Universal deluxe resort and get the EP fir free, especially with that many people.

It is expensive as you are doing both WDW and Universal plus other parks.

Could you add extra days onto the WDW ones or Universal and skip the other parks. Once you have bought a 4 day MYW it isn't too expensive to add on extra days. Check out if an annual pass may suit better for universal.

We visit Orlando yearly but only do WDW or Universal. I can't justify both sets of tickets.

This year we are doing 10 nights at Cabana bay - we have the uk 14 day both park universal tickets, free LEGOLAND tickets and gatorland which was £10 each. I've also gone for Disney Halloween party tickets for a bit of Disney this trip.

Your numbers work out to $69 a day per person.

Have you considered switching out the Universal + Go Orlando Card with a Flex Ticket?

http://tickets.visitorlando.com/Universal-Orlando-Orlando-Flex-Ticket/

Instead of Legoland, Gatorland and the Space Station, you would get SeaWorld, Aquatica, and Wet 'n Wild (so yes, a bit of a trade off on attractions).

Your Disney tickets (3 plus 1 days with PH) + Flex Tickets for 5 would come to $3512 including tax, so just under a $300 savings. It would bring your per-day attraction cost down to $50 pp.

While the tix prices are a huge portion of the trip, accommodations are a major component but certainly an area where you at least have flexibility as to price range/type and even 'how' you book (hotwire/vrbo for a condo, etc.)

we have WDW APs and rarely parkhop, i'd lop the PHing option off to save $

where are you staying when @ Universal? if onsite, you might want to consider buying at least one AP to obtain the hotel discount. The U APs are far more reasonably priced than WDWs

14 days in the parks without a 'down' day could be greuling. Perhaps forgoing the Go Orlando Card & compromising on one of the WDW waterparks & another day @ KSC would work?

have fun planning your trip.

I know when you're in the area it's tough not to do "everything". I've been lucky to have some No Expiration tickets to both parks. This last trip I did mostly non Disney and a 1 day/4 park extravaganza at Disney. I spent 5 days at Universal 1 at Sea World, and 1 at Busch Gardens (along with 1 rest day) on a 9 day trip. Next time I'll do mostly Disney and 1 Universal day. Once my No Expiration tickets are gone though I'll be in the same boat.

Actually for the places you have listed it does seem "reasonable" but it is still a chunk of money:) I just looked at our budget from June for 2 week trip for 5 of us (4 "adult" tix, 1 child price) and we had $2740 in tickets and we got some great deals: buy 3 get 2 from cheaptickets for Disney-we then added a day once there for total 6 days with PH; and buy 2 get 1 day PTP from Undercover tourist for universal (we stayed one night onsite at Universal to get EP). We did have a couple 1/2 days and a couple down days to just chill-we would never have made it doing something dawn til dusk daily.

Loved being able to stay long enough to do both major parks, but while we would have liked to go to Kennedy Space center we were better off just hanging out at resort/pool to recharge. We stayed 6 nights onsite at Disney so we enjoyed the PH but in past when we've stayed offsite the PH aren't really needed/used by us much. My kids-while high energy-did much better without trying to do too much (although it was the DH who did naps nearly daily in the afternoon:))

Have fun planning!!

We're doing disney and universal in a 2 week trip as well. It is a lot, my ticket budget was similar. I figured there is only so much you can do to cut ticket costs (and make sure they are 'legal' tickets) So I looked for other ways to cut costs. And then I didn't tell my husband exactly how much the tickets would be :rolleyes1

bwahaha-I got the bargains for our onsite rooms (both WDW and Uni) and even with the great deals I didn't tell my Hubby how much either-I saved my pennies and paid entirely out of "my" money as I was the one who really really wanted to stay onsite (We did have our timeshare trade the second week, but we had total of 7 nights of "onsite" somewhere as well). Totally worth it

To do both parks justice (and not be exhausted) 2 weeks was a great amount of time for us. Surprisingly - we didn't spend near the amount I had budgeted for food-and no one anywhere ever felt like we were deprived of anything. Especially butterbeers-I seriously need a support group for addicts for butterbeers.
