I agree with NewEnglandDisney -- just enjoy being at WDW.
A few years ago, we had a standard view room at AKL at a discount. At check-in we were upgraded to a Savannah view room unexpectedly. When we got to our room, we went to our balcony and there were two giraffes right outside of our room. Wow!
We went last month and also had 2 standard view rooms. We took our parents with us and were hoping that we would get upgraded. No upgrade. We even asked about it and were told it'd be $70 per night extra to upgrade even though there were plenty of rooms available. The entire visit at AKL, the animals seemed to be nonexistent! Just a few animals here and there, but many of the savannahs were empty. We saw zebras one morning from a long distance and only saw one giraffe that could only be viewed with a very strong telephoto lens. It just seemed like the "magic" wasn't with us for this trip.
I guess what I'm trying to say is don't expect to be blessed with pixie dust with free upgrades, ultimate fastpasses, etc. It's when you don't expect it, that the magic of WDW finds you whether it be stumbling across the walking talking trashcan in tomorrowland, having a CM give your patient child a Peter Pan and Captain Hook pin because he's wearing a Peter Pan hat or getting that free upgrade and your room just happens to have giraffe's right outside when you walk in.
