Is this a bad idea?

I'm sure I'm annoying everyone already. It seemed like I had this trip all planned out in my head but now that I have to book it, I am petrified of making a mistake!

WE are going for 7 days/6 nights. it's our honeymoon and Dfi and I would like our first night to be at the CR, in a tower room HOPEFULLY with a MK-view. Then the remaining 5 nights at the BC.

1. Is it a HUGE hassle to move hotels? Does Disney help this at all or will we be schlepping luggage on the monotail to the TTC and then on the bus to the BC?

2. Is staying in the tower and seeing the MK from our bedroom and the wonderousness of the CR worth the extra $50 for the night (compared to the cost of a night at the BC).

As children we always dreamed of staying at the CR becuase of the monorail and all...but will living the dream be worth the hassle?

It is not a problem to move...especially if you are just there for one night and aren't going to really unpack. Disney moves your stuff and you can get the transportation to get to your new hotel. We do it every trip. Our favorite combo is AKL/ BWI/ GF, in that order

I think it is worth it to start off your trip in the CR tower and then move over to BC. The view is incredible, and you will be fulfilling your dream, right? I had that about the Disneyland Hotel, and it meant a lot to finally stay there as an adult! The Beach club is great, too. You will love the easy walk to Epcot and the Boardwalk area.

Watching the fireworks from our balcony our first night on our last trip was unbelievable! I can't even tell you how great it was, so I don't think your idea is that crazy.

As for moving, why not take a cab? The bell service will handle your luggage and the cab driver will load it - nor worries for you. Yes, you have the extra cost, but you don't have a hassle! There were always plenty of cabs waiting outside the CR.

If you don't get the MK view, will you be upset?

For me, personally, 1 night is not enough time to spend at a resort. Check-in isn't until 3pm and check out is 11am.....

Perhaps. But I'd be way more upset if I were in a garden wing. Just because check-in-isn't until 3pm doesn't mean we won't explore the hotel, use the pool/marina etc. We'd arrive early, PRAY our room is ready and let the desk know we'd be willing to wait longer for a room if it means we can get a MK-view. It's our honeymoon afterall! Dfi and I are low-maintenance types. If we can get it GREAT, if not...we at Disney...on our honeymoon...what more could we want!

You might want to consider the Polynesian, lagoon view concierge, or Contemporary 14th floor concierge king non-smoking for that first night--it's the only guaranteed way of having a lagoon view room. It will cost a bit more, but having the concierge service on that first night to make things extra special might be worth it.

I'm not sure when you're going to the CR, but I'm here right now and am in the south wing. It is a LONG walk to the main building, so from the second night that I've been here, I've been trying to upgrade to the Tower. I've been told that it will be an extra $125/night, and I don't care, because I feel so far away from the main part of the hotel. Unfortunately, no rooms have opened up yet, so I'm still in the south garden wing. If you want to be guaranteed a room in the Tower, you should book the concierge, otherwise, you may be very unlucky, like me!

I think it's a mistake. One night is NOT enough. I would book at least 2 nights at the CR (noting your honeymoon on the reservation along with the MK view request). That way you won't be rushed out the door in the moring and you can enjoy the resort and the view. BTW ... Isn't the tower a seperate rate category? I didn't think the garden guests were paying the same as those in the tower!

As ducklite mentioned, this is the view from the balcony of a king room on the 14th floor. The view of the fireworks is truly magical.

I was thinking the same thing!

Oh! Look at all those magical cars! Better yet, look at all that magical available parking! When the heck was that picture taken?!?! Not anytime I stayed at the CR .

Tower rooms are a seperate catagory from the garden-wing rooms. So We will definitely be in the tower, but cannot be guaranteed a MK view (unless we upgradew to concierge).

Thanks for clearing that up. I was confused by:

If you want to be guaranteed a room in the Tower, you should book the concierge, otherwise, you may be very unlucky, like me!

Hmmm ... I thought that the conceirge rooms were on both sides of the building too. Perhaps the King rooms are on the MK side and the Queens on the other side. I would believe Anne on this one .

Personally, I think you'll be fine. You plan on checking in early. You're flexible on when you get into your room. You'll have "Honeymoon, MK View Requested" on your reservation. You can verify that your requests were filled at check-in and if not offer to wait for a room that faces the MK. I think the CMs at the Contemporary will take care of you .

We got married, and honeymooned at CR. I think the price for one magical night of seeing the fireworks from your room is well worth it. Moving is no big deal. We did it, and the staff were very helpful. Don't be surprised if you want to stay at CR though. Getting a view of MK should not be an issue. Just let them know at check in, and they will do everything they can to accomodate you. HAVE FUN!!!

Oh! Look at all those magical cars!

When I took that picture, you know I never even noticed that 'cause I was so blown away by the view of Space Mountain and the castle.

Pix was taken 12/30/04. We spent 2 nights in king room, 14th floor. There are only 2 king rooms and both are on the MK side. So if you book king, 14th floor, you are guaranteed a MK view. Even if you had to take a room with 2 queens (there are a couple on each side and the rest are suites) you can watch the fireworks from the concierge lounge which is on the MK side and has very large balcony.

Funny story about the New Years Eve fireworks which we watched from our balcony. They were so spectacular and "right there" that twice during the show, we both actually took a couple steps back from the railing. They have two sets of fireworks going at the same time, one over the castle and the other over the lake. Two or three times, perimeter fireworks fill in the gap and the repercussion from them was so loud, it made all the car alarms in the parking lot go off. They were beeping, booping, whirring and honking and we were crying and laughing at the same time 'cause we couldn't believe our eyes (or our ears)! That was the first time I realized, "Hey...this is a parking lot view!"...he-he-he. It was thee best NYE yet!
