Hi everyone! I'm getting a new iPhone tomorrow (:cool1: free deal on the iPhone 4 with Verizon!) and I'm wondering something.

I love watching vacation videos, but I also LOVE LOVE LOVE watching live streams from the parks. Can anyone tell me if the wifi works inside the rides/shops/shows? I'd love to do a UStream live walk-through/ride-through on some various rides using my iPhone, but I didn't know how reliable the wifi was.

I guess I should also check- would this be against WDW policy to broadcast the rides/shows live? I know they're ok with you recording them (well, most of them...).

TIA! :thumbsup2

I've been in some rides where (for whatever reason) I couldn't even get cell service.

The new little mermaid ride comes to mind.

It's absolutely hit or miss. The TTA has some of the best Wifi on property - I made dining reservations on it last trip, lol. Guessing the transmitters are in one of the buildings you travel through. There are other rides where, as the previous poster said, you can't get wifi, 3G, cell - anything. Trying to recall where I experienced this - maybe Pirates? Would have been in the line, I am assuming the show building would be worse.

I would just say: good luck with that. Based on my own experience, I'm highly skeptical you'd get a good enough connection for a long enough time to pull this off.

I'm gonna say for the most part, no way. I tried quite a few times on our first trip to make a phone call near the end of POTC. I desperately wanted a friend back home to hear drunken Captain Jack singing yo ho yo ho, but no way no how would that call go through.

I agree...I tend to lose cell/WiFi once inside the rides. I didn't have either inside the Pirates queue. The only ones that seem to have any reception are the outside rides (e.g., train, Everest) and shows.

and i will add...the iPhone 4 is now 3 generations old will be 4 late this summer. There is a reason why it's free. Do yourself a favor. spring for the 4s at minimum.

new apps are being written every day that cater to the new morepowerfull phones. I would hate to see you stuck with an outdated smart phone for another 2 years. you will not be happy.

In January, I couldn't get WiFi to work in Animal Kingdom at all. (3G worked fine.)

We have good luck with Verizon in the parks. We do however have the newest model phones, but my BIL have a shared WDW love and we are forever calling each other on rides to let the other hear their favorite part. I have never tried to do a live stream, don't even know how....but Verizon reception is very good in the parks.

The wifi isnt strong enough for streaming at this point and that is of course if you can maintain the signal in the first place. More often than not, we were on LTE since that wifi was spotty. As they roll out the next-gen system though the wifi might get much stronger.

Nothing against the original poster.

However, my person hope is that people who use cell phones on rides, or cameras with flash, should drop them from the ride and they be broken beyond repair!

I also find the cell phone video taping at shows distracting.
