I was wondering if there is actually "tent" camping at any of the Disney camp sites. I've not done much research, but I did find a place to buy a tent all-tents.com, but is it possible and is it safe?

Just wondering. I guess this could actaully be a really stupid question so forgive me, my friends are avid RV'ers, but that's not in my price range just yet.

Thank you!

Loads of people tent camp at FW. You'll get lots of info here from tenters, so keep reading!!

I love to see tent campers at FW. You can tent on ANY site in FW but there are two loops that have power/water only (no sewer or catv) and so tent campers choose them often. They are loops 1500 and 2000 and because of the hookups are cheaper than the other sites. People have their preferences about which loop so it's up to you.

Or you can go for location-location-location and camp in any loop. You may want to be in 100, 200, or 300 down by Pioneer Hall and the boat docks. Or you may want to be in 1400, 800, or 900 up by the big trading post, the main pool, and the campfire/movie area (my choice).

A map of FW is available somewhere on this website and when you call to make your reservation you can REQUEST to be assigned a certain loop but it is not guarenteed. But it usually works out (or you get an adjacent loop) so it can't hurt to ask. You also didn't say what time of year you were considering. I would offer that June-July-August is hot and usually rainy with high humidity. January is the coldest month. Best months are March-May and October-December for tent campers.

Good luck and enjoy your stay at FW. :groom:

We just got back from Tent camping at Ft. Wilderness. And we did see that even people with TT often have a tent pitched as well.

I'm going to post my Trip report here as well as the TR board if you're interested.

We set our tent up in 13 days! I usually stay in a nice air conditioned room but this time the grandkids want to camp, so camp we will!!!
