Is there such a thing as Too Much Disney

Disney and “too much” are an oxymoron!!! Never enough! We are a child-free couple (I am in my late 20s, DH is in his 30s) – we just can’t get enough of Disney. Well, let me re-phrase it. I can’t get enough. DH likes it but doesn’t obsess about it like I do – I LOVE planning our trips and, sometimes, for some crazy unexplainable reason, I get exited about planning more then about trip itself. But there is just so much magic! It’s nice to be able to check reality at the door and forget about high-pressure jobs, mortgage and car payments and be a kid again. I get a serious case of “butterflytus” the night before our trips. We go every month, sometimes twice a month (for weekends) and it is NEVER enough! We are planning a 4-night weekend around Christmas for my B-day – I am ready!!!

gee, I feel like a newbie, only been there 8 times (planning our 9th). so many of you have been MUCH more often! but... our friends and family think we're NUTZ!!! the only way to beat the depression of coming home from a trip is to start planning the next one. took our boys there twice - now that they're grown, can't talk them into joining us. last year we started planning a grand canyon/vegas trip...knew we would be wishing we were at our happy place - changed our plans. took 2 segway tours - LOVED them! looking forward to tryng manyother tours (keys to the kingdom, etc.)
we have friends who spend mucho bucks to go to all inclusive resorts in Cancun, etc. and they have JUST the resort, nothing else! and all for 3 days only!.. you could spend a whole week at most of the disney resorts and have a great time without the parks, but at disney, you have SO much more!! the resort, the parks, the water parks, downtown disney, etc. rent bikes, boats...
ok, back to planning that next trip; I can hardly wait!
ps. check out my DH's trip report: If it's Tuesday, this must be EPCOT.

used to go just once a year, and this year I planned on going twice, once with my dad, and once with BF. Then BF gave me another trip for a gift. So I have 4 planned trips. I live in Atlanta. I'm thinking about planning a long weekend for Star Wars weekend and Flower and Garden festival.

I can't imagine getting to the point we feel we have been too much.

DH and I got back yesterday from an adult weekend trip and we are leaving this Thursday for a trip with the kids. We can't get enough!

We go 6 to 10 times a year. And that is just to WDW. That doesn't include our trips to the Disney Vacation Club resorts in Hilton Head or Vero Beach or the multiple Disney cruises we have been on.

I told my DH while walking through Epcot this past Saturday that I couldn't imagine not having Disney in our lives. It is such an integral part of who we are. Like a PP said - it is a place for us to go to forget about the issues of the real world. We leave our worries at the gate and just have a good time!

Don't get me wrong - personally, I love going to other destinations as well. My DH and I both have great jobs but we work super hard and, therefore, get to play "hard"; so I do not mind spending money on a 5-star vacation (my dream is an adult-only resort in Fiji... still only a dream, but hey, some day). My parents live overseas so we travel twice a year to see them and to take trips to other places while there.. This is what I "officially" call vacation. I guess we are fortunate to live only a little over an hour from Disney so I never think of it as a major vacation, but I certainly cannot get enough of it! And you are right - there is so much more to it then just parks. The littlest things make me exited there - I saw the coolest tea cup (I am an avid hot tea drinker) that looked like the bottom part of Minnie Mouse - it made my day. I think Disney reminds me of being a kid and not requiring much to be content... How can anybody get enough of that??!?!?!

I agree. When I go to Disney, I can check reality at the door until I see the itemized bill appear on my door...

we missed last summer. first time in years. i really missed it........but this summer just my husband and i went alone. my dd17, had to many diff. things going on...........so off we went alone......we had a great time. we have been other places, i lover bermuda. and my sister has a house down the cape , so we go there alot to. but , i have friends that spend $$$$ to spend a week and hampton beach, n.h. and other places, but i would rather go to disney...................our family keeps saying, Why dont you go some place differant. and my mother in law says, now that the kids are older you dont have to go to Disney............hahah i just laugh, they dont get it..............

I don't think there can ever be too much "magic" in our lives. We've been going annually, for maybe 3 or 4 years. This year is the first time we're going more than once. We went in June, but it was a very short trip. All we kept saying was "it's okay, we'll do that in November!" My family is the same as someone else mentioned, all you say is Disney, and its "when? I'll start to pack!" Sometimes we're not even off the property, and they start asking, "when are we coming back next year?". Sure there are plenty of places to see in the world, but right now, my family (DH, DS13 & DS10) are very happy visiting the "happiest place on earth" I wouldn't trade our Disney memories for anything!!!

No, there can never be too much magic! I am a Disney addict myself; however, I believe that there should be a balance. If we ever decide to trade our child-free lifestyle for having kids, I would certainly expose them to other things, besides Disney. While Disney is magical, I would want to give my kids an opportunity to see other countries, cities, cultures etc... But that's just me...

When my mother asked me if I wanted to move to Melbourne,FL,I asked her,"I can go to Disney any time I want? I'll be packed in 10 minutes!!!" That should give people an indication of how much Disney is a part of my life. No, you can NEVER have too much magic!!!!

We've been to WDW three times, the last one in September, last year (-05) we couldn't go as we purchased our first home, which we love but no vacation happened at all. DID we ever miss going to WDW? YES ;)

We booked our original trip for Dec 1-8 of -06 but we had to go sooner, the WDW "bug" was eating us alive :rotfl: we changed it to September, hmm, seems to be the time of year we should go as that's what we have been doing so far.

Anyways, if we could go once a year I think we'd be just fine, twice would be better  and we also talk about going other places on vacation, but as previous posters, the itch for WDW gets just tooo bad :rolleyes1

I wish I could go back right now!!!!! :goodvibes

Too much Disney is like too much popcorn: there's no such thing! popcorn::

Since DH and I can only really take one week of real vacation each year, and since we have a long list of places we want to see, we're planning to be every-other-year Disney people. But...we went for a day last winter during a family visit...and for a week last fall...and we're going again this fall...and my sister in Florida has an annual pass so she'll want me to visit for long weekends...

We go twice a year, and I can't imagine not going that often. However, I was kind of embarassed when the reservationist (before my trip last month) said, "Wow, you've been here a lot". She then gave me the same room we had in our prior reservation (thank you!). I really appreciate how nice our Disney vacations have been.

Too much Disney??????? :confused3 There is never enough Disney!!!!! How can there be too much magic in life? :wizard: or pixiedust pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

I think what you're experiencing is a need for variety...nothing wrong with that. You could take a break from Disney--I try to alternate Disney trips with visits to new places. But you could also plan a trip to WDW and try some of those things you always meant to do, but never get around to.
