With the exchange rate and econmoy as they are just now, are there still plenty of bargains to be had at the malls?

At Premium Outlets there are, it can be hit and miss as with all discount stores but we found plenty of bargains on the likes of jewellery and sportswear there last month.

I bought an Oakley watch that whilst still not cheap at $300 was less than half price and I saw the same watch at Cheshire Oaks Outlet here in the UK on saturday for £400.
Skechers shoes had buy 1 pair get another free.

And the Y3 adidas store had fantastic savings too - we bought 3 pairs of trainers there, one pair was over $200 off the full price.

Sometimes it's just a matter of timing at these store but, PO is definitely tops for bargains and has many designer labels too.

Is the Y3 store a new one or just the one thats always been there?

To be honest I am not sure, I don't think it was in 2006 when we last went, but we didn't spend as much time at Premium Outlets then.

This year we went several times, purely because I dropped Julie off so she could shop on her own and I also did the same, gave us chance to look around more.

I own a few pairs of Y3 trainers which I bought in the UK, hence the interest when I saw the shop in Orlando.

My DW loves to shop in the Fossil shops and collects the 'Make your own watch' straps and faces. They are always a fraction of the cost of what they would be over here, even when we went in February when the exchange wasn't as good as our trip the year before.
I suppose with all of these malls it's a case of having a good look round. If you have the time to look around (which we normally don't as the kids hate shopping and aren't averse to telling us as much) I'm sure there are bargains to be had.

I spoke to my mum yesterday who's down in Bradenton (just south of Tampa). They'd been to their local outlet mall and said the discounts were variable: for example dad got a pair of chinos from Brooks Brothers which were $90 down to $15 (40% off then a one-day-only extra 15% i think). She was looking for a pair of black jeans but said that the usual outlet she goes to (Gap, Guess, Izod etc) didn't have any deep discounts and they left feeling that although they go 1 or 2 good things there were no real bargains.

They're off the the mall in Sarasota next week and she's hoping there might be some discounts there :thumbsup2

My Mums just back and she said she definately noticed the difference ... with the pound so low prices were much the same as at home
